Hmm frequent freezing

I bought X50V through e-bay two months ago.
It worked well exept it went freezing sometimes; screen-image stops and digitiger and buttons do not work - just freezup. I had to soft-reset it.

Then, OS was WM2003 A02, and I upgraded it to WM2003 A05.
The problem is still there, no better now.
Even the soft-resetting does not work in one time, I have to press the reset hole three times to reboot properly. (It stops during the soft rebooting)

It seems to occur randomly (once per a few days), but not perfectly random.
If I use it just for reading e-books, the freezing does not happen.
If I do some games and GPS navigation, the freezing occurs during dong the games or later.

I also find that self-diagnosis-funtion seems not work.
Pressing power button-record button-reset hole, the hard reset comment appears on screen, but not self-diagnosis comment.

Do you think it is a software problem? or a hardware problem?
any suggestion?

Hi Jangkun, I have an X50v and experienced my share of lockups on occasion. And like you, I found this to occur when running multiple applications that really tax the CPU--like playing music while surfing the Web over wifi. I think this is all related to buggy WM2003 OS and apps.

If you really think you have a hardware issue, you could try doing another hard-reset and then re-adding your apps one by one with a few days of testing between. If you're getting lockups right after your hard-reset, then something is wrong with your Axim.

Also, the self-diagnosis function only comes with the WM5 bootloader. You're running WM2003 SE. And before you ask, I would dissuade you from upgrading to WM5 or even WM6. If you think lockups every few days is bad, try every few hours! The Axim is then frozen for 10 minutes while the compaction thread runs :-(. I'm on WM5 now, and I absolutely can't wait until my HP 210 arrives. The X50v is better left on WM2003 SE.

It sounds like you are running out of program storage and the system has to spend time cleaning up. Try freeing more memory--move files out of Main storage and onto cards, install software to cards/Built-In storage. Get as much free Program storage as you can.
