replace flex cable on X50v / X51v LCD

I have a x50v where the LCD flex cable has been damaged.
I know the LCD itself is OK.
I have a second LCD which has been damaged but the flex cable appears OK.
I have removed the digitizer and frame from this second LCD and separated the metal backing to expose the complete flex cable which covers the lower third of the LCD.
Does anyone know how to detach the flex cable from the LCD and install it in the other LCD which has the damaged flex cable?

Unfortunately, it's impossible to do what you want to do. The flex cable is bonded to the glass at the factory using precision equipment. If you try to remove the flex, you will damage the thinfilm traces on the glass.

Your best bet is to get another LCD with a good flex cable.

Looking at where the flex cable is attached I thought that was probably the case. I was hoping that I was wrong.

Thanks for the information.
