2003se my only working OS.

Was running the original WM6 A01 maglite for many months. Left x50v sitting in cradle and at some point it won't boot. Soft and hard reboots get to the Dell startup at about 10% and then stops. Reflashed WM5 A01 & A02, WM6 A01 & A02. and still the same problem, as the "erasing storage" step of the flashing process locks up at about 10%. As I read somewhere that WM5+ treats memory as a single block I reflashed with wm 2003SE (os and boot) and my x50v has life again! Feeling happy I got out my WM5 factory disks sept 2005 and upgraded. Everything seemed fine until the reboot whick stopped at the 10% boot lock as before. Reflashed to 2003SE and it's alive again. Diagnostics (wireless + reset + pwr) shows everything is fine. Any utilities or diagnostic programs to figure out this hurdle? It was nice watching movies on a 8 gig SDHC and and I want that back. Thanks for any thoughts or help.

How long did you leave the unit on the reboot? It does take quite some time to reconfigure the ROM space as it removes the BIS and creates a single storage area. I've seen this take as much as 10 minutes on one X50v. I assume that your BIS is present, and usable under 2003?

2003se seems to be working. Nomally I will wait an hour to overnight too see if things fix themselves. When reflashing with WM5+ and getting to 10% on "earasing storage", the spinning cursor in the lower left corner is stopped.

Surfingfool, i too have same ordeal. I can only use my device with wm2003se A05 ROM. No way to upgrade as it hangs to 20% on "erasing storage." I noticed that I lost my built-in-storage as well. I think that was causing the problem. the buil-in-storage or BIS is part of the Flash ROM that has to be formated when doing upgrade. Can you confirm if you lost that built-in-storage as well? You should see it when checking the storage card status. You must see the Built-In-Storage, CF Card and SD Card, asside from the Main Storage. If you did lost the built-in-storage (BIS) then we probably need to solve first how to recover the BIS in order to proceed with the upgrade. I lost mine when I used the WM6 upgrade. I have used it for more than a month. But I haven't able to boot WM6 after I installed tman. It hanged and I had to revert back to wm2003se. Now I have to find a way to restore the BIS first.
