Buttons don't work
The four buttons at the bottom of my Axim x50v don't work. Neither does the pg up/pg down rocker switch. The lock switch is off. I've tried a hard reset. Any other suggestions welcomed.
Thanks!

Did they ever work? Are the programmed to do nothing? What have you recently installed/changed that might make them not work? Since you could hard reset, at least one is functional...

They worked fine, once, but no longer. The one on the left works intermittently. The rest not at all. I have hard-reseted the unit so there's no software installed that could interefere with them.

if you can get your hands on(borrow) a Belkin snap-n-type keyboard then you can tell if its programming or if the buttons are malfunctioning

What happens sometimes is that if you bump your PDA, you can jar the button board connector loose. That would explain total loss of the D pad and buttons. You need to open the case and check this. The fix is easy - just snap the connector back in place.
Check my ViewMyPDA for case opening instructions.

bigbop is right. Opening the case is really easy. Don't be intimidated. Don't use a screwdriver to 'jar' the top and bottom case halves apart. A stout fingernail is a much better (and gentler) tool. You'll want to leave the PDA innards in the bottom shell and actually remove the top shell. The ribbon cable for the buttons is really easy to reset. Don't have to touch screen at all. Take your time on the first go around. You'll need a torx 5 (or six, I can't remember)
Look around the forum for how to take it apart. It's not a new topic at all.

I took off the cover and checked the button ribbon. No change. Even without the cover only button 1 works.

how about the white plastic thing the ribbon connects to on the mainboard? Is that solid or does it wiggle... wiggle is bad, thats how my hard ware buttons failed due to impact damage.

hey Matzoh.
I have a spare button assembly / screen case from a 50v.
send me a pm if you are interested. It will be cheap, and I bet it will fix your issue.

I'm having the exact same problem. I opened up my x50v using online instructions, and everything seems to be fine. I have no idea as to why this would be happening.
At least with my cradle syncing problem I could see that it wasn't soldered to the motherboard right...
Anymore info on this would be much appreciated. I miss being able to use the D-Pad while reading ebooks...

When you do a hard reset, do the calendar and / or envelope button work? The message should say something like.......press the calendar button to continue with hard reset to erase all memory, or press envelope to cancel the hard reset and resume a normal boot. I can't remember exactly.
If not, then doing a hard reset should be more difficult. If they do work, then something else is going on inside the ax.
