Bricked X50V?

Was trying to upgrade to WM5 from 2003 (then eventually to WM6) using the SD bootloader process. After the boot loader update was successful, tried wireless/power/reset and now I get nothing. No screen, no power.

Help!

Never mind. I saw a post to get it in to diagnostic mode and was able to get back in to it.

I have a same question here, so i post it here instead.

I have accidentally flashed my x50v from 2003SE to WM5 A02... now my X50v don't respond to anything, even wireless + power + reset and rec + power + reset. It just like dead...

Just wanna know anyway to revive it ? I have tried steven855 thread instructions without success.

Thanks

You should be able to get back to the SD card loader menu as long as your bootloader flashed successfully. Plug it in to a/c power, hold down power+record buttons and then click the reset button on the back. That should get you to the diagnostics screen. Once it starts the memory test, then you should be able to wifi/power/reset back in to the SD card loader and flash the correct OS, WM5 A01.

In my instructions, I warned you NOT to go directly from WM2003 SE to WM5 A02. I said upgrade to WM5 A02 in steps! First, upgrade to WM5 A01, then try the A02 rom update.

THANKS !!!

Now my x50v is alive again.... actually it is important to focus on how to press the WL + PW + Reset and REC + PW + Reset. You need to hold for 2 sec before short tap the reset.

Thanks for all your help

THANK YOU! My girlfriend just bought an x50v to replace her IPAQ 210 she lost. I had a sick feeling in my stomach when the bootloader said it flashed successfully, and then when I hit the buttons again it went black and never made a peep after that. I followed your directions exactly and the progress bar is chugging along flashing WM5 A01 now. I thought for sure I was screwed. ...thank you, thank you, thank you! :approve:

another bricked x50v

I too am having the same problem with my X50v. I upgraded ( at least changed) to wm5 without any real problems and I updated as the new rom's came along. I had the blue screen stop at about 80% I can get to the sd update but it asks for a02. I am not sure where to find this and is it referring to wm2003 se the original or the wm5 a02. I have the original upgrade discs for wm5.
but I can't seem to find the files i need to put on my SD card. Of course my extended warranty ended the last week of August. I am looking at going to iphone or blackberry but really need this for epocrates and exchange for the next few weeks.

Thanks for any help.

Need some more information, doctorjay.

When it boots up to 80%, can you get an Activesync partnership?

If you can, here's the A02 WM5 ROM for x50v: Drivers and Downloads
Of course, the setup uses Dell's own installer for ROMs. It DOES NOT use the bootloader.

If you cannot, tell me and I'll extract that setup file into "the files you can put on your sd card"
A better word would the "Bootloader files".

One more thing, I don't know if you have any data on that Ax. If you do, we need to get it out before you do anything.

More info: I could not get an Activesync partnership when it was doing this.
I had no significant data I will need to reinstall all my programs and the files I refer to that are synced with my computer.
It seems that the bootloader files are working but I cannot get it to do the final hard reset. Does that give you enough info?

Let's work this out via Private Messages. I'll be glad to help you as soon as possible (Probably today, if not, tomorrow). I have some some other commitments to attend to.
