Google -> soft reset !

For the last week or more I haven't been able to use google from my X50v

The main page shows up and I can input a request and usually a result turns up.

Then if I click on a result link my ax is freezing and reacts on nothing but a soft rest !

I've spent lots of hours lately trying to provoke this situation with other URL's but it ONLY happens with a Google search !

Actually, it looks like a virus but if this was a common problem I'm sure that the world would have heard about it

Before I start the agony process of hard reset - check - install - check - next install - check
maybe someone knows a cure ?

I don't know a cure, but, my X50 doesn't have a problem. I did a Google search for three different things, then clicked on the results. Each time it went to that site. :)

I'm wondering if it's a memory problem or lack of in your AX.

I had a similar problem once and had to clean up my history files.

My ax gets cleaned every day and has about 26 megs free.

When the 'stop' happens the cpu goes up to full speed: 625MHz and 100% cpu and the battery gets a little warm.

.

Not sure what browser you're using, but try a different browser. Also, if you're not using PIE, uninstall and reinstall the browser. Personally, I find NF to work very well.

I think I have a smilar problem on my x50V, usually from Google.
The wavy flag animates when I search for a keyword, but then freezes (or near-freezes) when I tap on the screen, either to scroll or to switch programs, etc... a manual soft-reset usually follows. I also have PIE-Plus installed.

But the 'funny' thing is that I've used PIE-Plus for about a year before that problem turned up.
Guess that there's an interference with some other program - but haven't found out which.
Memmaid or iLaunch maybe ?

Missing PIE-Plus is a pain

This is really weird !

Did a hard reset and installed PIEplus only.
No additional setup - not even the date and time except the wifi.

Surfed the net - no problems whatsoever.

Tried to use google but after a few lookups my X50v stalled

Soft reset again :(

Installed acbTaskMan to view the cpu and battery usage.

Everything within normal limits: 10% cpu and around 80mA - until google was activated with a couple of inquiries:
100% cpu and over 600mA until I turned off my ax 'cause the battery temperature went up to around 50°C/120°F !!!

Gosh - Menneisyys

That's definitely a strange problem. Especially after you reloaded PIE+. I'm using it with Google as my homepage without any problems. I tried exercising mine just now and no lockups, although a bit slow at times.

I assume you're using WiFi? If so, have you tried using Google with the AX docked? :)

Do you have any other browers loaded besides PIE+?

I'm wondering if there might be a conflict where Google is trying to go to another browser. :)

Upgrade to WM5+ if that's OK with you (dunno if the x50v has received a WM6.1 upgrade of the same quality and complete lack of compaction delays as the hx4700). PIE / IEM is REALLY prone to crashing upon encountering some CSS constructs under WM2003(SE), as has also been pointed out in some (see for example my latest W3C presentation) of my Web browsing-related articles & Bibles.
