Urgent!! I upgraded my X50v to WM6 last week.
All is working well. However, I can no longer find the

You can only backup PPC2003 or earlier devices.

MobileViews Blog :: Why Did Microsoft Remove Backup/Restore from ActiveSync?

Quote:
One of the innovations that came with Microsoft Windows Mobile 5 for Pocket PC users was non-volitile flash RAM and the storage of key Windows Mobile databases in this RAM. This meant that both Pocket PC users would no longer lose their contacts and calendars when a battery died. Since Microsoft presumed that Pocket PC users would no longer need to restore their system from a hard disk through ActiveSync, they removed the Backup and Restore function for Pocket PCs in ActiveSync!

I'm looking for a solution myself! So far I haven't found any free alternatives, but a lot of people are recommending SPB Backup. Another is Resco backup.

I use Spb backup everyday and Pocket Mechanic to keep things cleaned up.

$50 for both programs is good insurance to keep your data safe.

Personnaly i REALLY dislike Pocket Mechanic: to keep your PPC clean (and to tweak it) use SKtools (really worth the price)
Spb backup is really great (much faster than sprite) but i dislike to have to reboot my device to back it up...
EDIT: sktool price is just HALF than Pocket Mechanic price (nobody pay me to say that)

Thanks for all the feedback. It appears I need to $buy$
an application.

One last question ... Does anyone know of a FISHING LOG program for the X50v WM6?

I bought the "Where did I catch that fish" from PocketGear. However, I can not get the program to upload. PocketGear showed no interest in my dilemma and continues to give me the run-around. I just bit the
$bullet$ and gave up. No more business with them.

That's not good.

I'd suggest contacting Chris or posting in the software forum to help you with PocketGear. I know they advertise here and I believe have employees who post regularly.

Nothing ventured - nothing gained.

I use Sprite and it has saved my immortal soul on a few occasions. Definetly worth the investment of money and time.

The data backup program that was in the WM5 roms was removed when Maglite redid the rom. If you still want it, there's a download link floating somewhere on xda-developers.com with one of the axim rom threads.
