I tried updating my OS to WM6. After it said it was complete it told me to do a hard reset. After I did a hard reset it wouldnt turn back on. I called Dell and since they dont support them anymore I decided to send it to a PDA repair site. They told me that the motherboard was ruined and that it would cost $150 to replace it.

I am just curious if a failed update would actually ruin the motherboard? That sounds a bit far fetched but I could be wrong. And secondly is there a way that I can purchase a motherboard and replace it myself? Im just trying to go through my options to see if it is cost effective to get it fixed or just by a new one. Thanks
