X50 Backup battery
This more than likely has been discussed before however after searching the site I did not find what i was looking for so here goes.

The backup battery on my x50 is done, is there an easy replacement for it?? I'd buy one from e-bay or something however after searching did not find anything...I'd really like to be able to get something rechargeable if it exists. What seems to be the best replacement. I am pretty self sufficient if soldering is required.

I believe that the X50 backup battery is actually a capacitor.

In any event it is not a replaceable item (except by openng up the case and unsoldering it).

What exactly do you mean when you say it is "done"? It should recharge when you put the X50 in its cradle.

Actually, the battery is quite replaceable and does not require soldering of anykind. Perhaps you're thinking off the x51, which does require soldering.

Opening the case is quite easy, and replacing the battery is simply a matter of unplugging a small connector. Of course, you do need the battery assembly for the x50.

Anyone one know where to get one? Or what can serve as a replacement battery. I've replaced the screen about a month ago because of an unfortunate lapse of judgement and I noticed that it should be an easily replaceable part. I just don't know where I could find a replacement

hot off the assembly line...

Dell Axim x50/x51 Parts!! Backup Battery!! X50v/X51v!!! - eBay (item 290215631420 end time Aug-15-08 15:26:17 PDT)

If I had anymore, I'd give you one for the cost of postage. Several peeps from here got batteries from a batch I found in the back yard.

You can find less expensive than this ebay link above - but you have to assemble the cable and plastic shrink wrap around the battery. It's easier just to get the pre-assembled battery and plug it in.

Thanks bernardm,

Do you have the specs on the battery? I'm pretty profficient with a soldering iron(was a surface mount assembly tech for 1 1/2 years). It'd be an easy fix if I knew what parts I need.
