Hi traderlouie, welcome to Aximsite/Mobilitysite

Can you give us a little more information? For instance:
  • How are you trying to connect to the Internet; you home wireless network, local hotspot, etc?
  • Are you getting any error messages?
Another thing to try is a quick look at ikehiker's fantastic WiFi Guide.

Could you also clarify which device you have.
You say a v50, but that doesn't exist.

If you meant to say X50v, then that does exist and has WIFI built in.
But if you have one of the lower powered X50's then it may not have Wifi and you would need the card you bought.

If you have the DELL WLAN utility, I don't think that you need a wireless network card.

Go back to Settings > Connections and then tap the DELL WLAN utility. Tap the Turn On button and then the Site tab. Any wireless networks in range should be shown there. Select the one that you want and surf away. Bear in mind that you may need a network key to connect to the network.

If you have the Dell wlan utility, then you have an x50v. To get to the internet you'll need connection to an access point. Either a wireless setup in your home or a local hotspot like Jogga mentioned. :)

Ps - Welcome to Mobilitysite. You'll find lots of good info and ppl here.

Hi Neil,

The network key is the security key that keeps all of the unwanted waifs and strays from accessing a wireless access points without permission. If you need to find a network key associated with your own network, just type in network key into your favourite search enging (Google ;))

Neil - You really need to read the thread Jogga posted above. The questions you're asking would be answered there.

It says connected but there is no browser window to use online. When I click on internet expolorer while i'm connected it says "Welcome to pocket internet explorer. Not online yet? Find out how to get connected and save offline content." How do I get my browser to go online once I'm connected at a hotspot? Thanks again, Neil

Neil, this is probably a settings issue: have you read ikehiker's guide that I linked to in my first post? Take a look at the troubleshooting and FAQ sections.

Alternatively, do you get an error message? Anything like the attached:

You say that you 'get a wireless system,' but then 'it is says Available to the right no connected.' I translate the second part as indicating you are not connected, so of course you will not be able to access a page in IE. Is this your own wireless network? If so, look at the Troubleshooting page of the WiFi Guide linked from my signature. If it is not your own, it's likely the owner has some security enabled preventing you from connecting.
