where am in going wrong - x50v?

hello friends,

I have been reading this forums extensively but I am not getting a solution to my problem.

I see some hope here with my x50v, just direct me please. 2 months ago I upgraded my x50v from 2003se to wm6. worked fine for 3 weeks. after that it kept stopping during dell logo boot up at 50%. I decided to reload wm6, using Dell Axim X50v WM6 A02 RTM & A03 Beta 1 (//MG) - xda-developers file name "X50v_WM60_A02_RTM.rar" from xda developers.

I have SD Image Update A02

everything goes smooth, SD card loads, image is read all the procedures, BUT it stops at the very last part "erasing storage". The progress bar at this stage is 99%, one more progress and i believe it will reset BUT it does not. It gives me
RAM Checksum: 0x(alpanumeric) (exact value as of CRC checksum)
CRC Checksum: 0x(alphanumeric) (exact value as of Ram checksum)

There is no difference in the 0x values for both RAM and CRC.

Diagnostic mode works perfect and passes all the tests.

How can i get my pda to work? All i need my pda for is reading my ebooks. I am a college student and have been hooked on with reading my textbooks on my pda.

1. WM6 - I would prefer this OS
OR
2. WM5 - I would live with this OS
OR
3. WM2003SE - This Os would be acceptable.

I'm sure someone has faced this same issue and resolved it. Do help, I will appreciate this.

Thanks

Sorry, can't help, but just wanted to say I have a similar issue. Same story - upgraded x50v to WM6.1 with the Lennysh upgrade. After 2-3 wks of very little usage, it stops at about 30% boot. After messing with it a lot, it's back and working, but then it froze and I had to hard reset... and 30% boot, but after messing... so it might as well be dead.

Similar problems are in multiple posts like this one - where am in going wrong - x50v?

Bottom line to anybody reading this - I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND UPGRADING TO WM 6.

I would stay with the 2003se. The x50v is designed for this OS, and it's VERY stable.
I'm also using my x50v for reading ebooks 1-3 hours each day, the x50v and 2003se is perfect for that - i'm using Mobipocket reader. I haven't rebooted for weeks now, just turns the PDA on and continues reading.

I agree! On the X50V, 2003se is the way to go.:approve:

Model?

btw, I'm assuming you have an x50v, not a 51?
('cause that's not what your name says...)

I wish I could help you. I've tried reflashing with several ROM's, renaming them (DiMa vs. WM50), etc. Nothing worked.

I was lucky. At one point when my Axim would boot all the way up, I hooked it to my PC and used the Dell Desktop updater to flash it to WM5 A02. I just started testing it, but it seems to be working.

I don't know if there's anyway to get your PC to start the Dell updater; maybe while it's in Diagnostic??

Maybe somebody else has a better answer, but thought I'd give you what I have...
