Obviously it's the wrong screen, right? The one I e-mailed the seller about it, he came back with this response:
Quote:
The Dell X50 and X3 is using the same touch screen and it would be different in Europe and USA. So sorry for that your device is not compatible with our accessories
anybody have any opinion on this? The x50v screen (what his auction was selling) is different than the x50 screen which may be possibly the same as the X3 screen. But since the X3 touchscreens active area doesn't even cover the bottom 3mm of the screen (I can't click sidebar in game Azgard Defence), it is obviously the wrong one.
Also does anybody have any information on Europe and USA having different versions of teh X50V screen? I have been unable to find any information on this. It appears to be false.
There are a couple of other things 'interesting' things about the screen I will post tomorrow with pictures. But for now, If you guys could give me any information that would be awesome!
simply stated, the x50v screen, and for that matter, upper shell cutout dimensions, are completely different from the x50. They cannot be interchanged.
Having said that, you can interchange the x51v screen with x50v screen with no problem.
I posted the exact dimensions on some post a while back.
I'd contact the seller again and let him know his information is incorrect. If he won't refund your money, then I'd report it to Ebay that he's selling incompatible devices. :(

Thanks for the quick response guys. After quite a few e-mails I did end up getting a full refund.
What really miffs me though, is I told the seller that I would like him to just send me the correct screen, but instead he said he would give me a refund.
This really makes me wonder if the seller even had the x50v screen in the first place. By the sound of his responses, it looks like he never did.
The other seller but I got my previous 'x50v' (was actually x50 touch screen) touch screen from couldn't really speak English, but it really seems like maybe that seller never had the real x50v screen as well. Definitely frustrating...
Thanks for the advice, but I am not interested in PDAsmart or ppctech's prices. They are ridiculously expensive!
Just curious, has anyone here ordered an x50v/x51v touchscreen from eBay and got the correct touchscreen?
Not personally, but I have heard of a few here. You might want to talk to the seller before you pay for it on eBay. If they're legit, they should know the difference between the two types of screens. :)
You also might want to advertise in the classfieds. Although, it seems like everybody is looking for them.

I'd also add that most touchscreens/digitizers sold for the X50V/X51V that are the right size still don't work very well. I restore some Axims to resell, so I've bought from a lot of different places trying to get good ones. A lot are part no. JH.ITO.294: about half of them work well enough for tapping buttons, half are so far off you can't use the virtual keyboards. All have weird lines that shoot off the lines you're trying to draw to enter characters via Transcriber or Asian Language input screens (or any drawing program), making it impossible to use these; you touch the stylus to the screen and hold it in one place, and a line draws itself out from where you're holding the stylus; often same happens from where you lift the stylus. Completely messes up line you're trying to draw. Some have a part no. with "Asian" or "Oriental" in it. Those just don't work at all.
The only ones I've found to work reliably have part numbers beginning with A87G-P0.... (rest can vary); all of the one's I've gotten with that part number have worked perfectly. Beware, as some sellers on eBay and elsewhere online show a photo of a digitizer with that part number on the auctions or web sites but actually ship the JH.ITO.294 or other digitizers. You have to confirm before bidding or buying that it'll be the correct part number, and if they send you something else, return it for a refund at once. And sometimes places that ship you the good A187G ones one time will send out other, non-working ones if you make another order from them--you have to confirm the part number every time. Some factory in China is churning these out and saying they're compatible, and the middlemen reselling them don't even bother checking.

Do you know any sellers on ebay that are selling good digitizers for the x50/x51?
Mobilitysite is pretty weird--they cripple what you can post and do until you've posted 15 times or more. So I had to make a bunch of nonsense posts to other threads to get to the point I could reply.
What I posted in sabrhawk's profile (the only way mobilitysite would let me respond) was that I don't know anything about the non-V models. I've gotten good screens for the -V models from elecrealm and mingxing200808 (and found that mingxing200808 is good about exchanging stuff that doesn't work), but you've got to follow the advice above--I don't know what the part number for a working X50/51 (non-V) touchscreen is, but I'd guess that ones similar to the ones that were bad for the X50V/51V would also be bad and similar ones to the ones that were good for the X50V/51V would be good, and I suggest confirming before bidding that the protectors will be the ones shown in the auction, even if a seller has been recommended. Avoid seller ymx0902--agreed to accept a return but extremely reluctant to actually give the refund, even a month after tracking info showed it delivered to the address he gave me. If anyone has bought a touchscreen for the X50/51 that worked, please post the part number written on the touchscreen so it'll be a little easier for the next person who needs one.
