I have left units with a dead battery for a very long time. Like one year. In my experience, they always power up, assuming the unit is healthy.

Regarding the backup battery question mentioned earlier. A unit will boot up with a dead backup battery. This is very common with X5 units because they are non-charging batteries and many user would simply leave them dead. The thing is that a combination of a dead main battery and a dead backup battery will lead to data loss on the unit.

Many people use their x50/x51's just fine with dead backup batteries. It just means that their main battery needs attention and if they ever remove the main battery, there will be data loss.

Ok I took the x50 to a battery store today. They had a 2200 mAh replacement...

Plugged it in, still nothing. Checked with a volt meter, it was putting out 3.7v (ironically my old battery was putting out 4.1v)

Left it in my car for a while and it magically came on by itself?

It now shows 78% battery life and the backup battery is dead.

Very strange
