x50 will not turn on

I'm back. I bought a used x50v that had a dead battery. I purchased a new battery, usb sync/charge cable that did not have enough power to charge the battery. I then bought an ac adapter which successfully charged both batteries (ie light changed from orange to green). I have tried soft reset(in back), hard reset(power button plus soft reset in appropriate order) and diagnostic test. Nothing turns the unit on. Whats funny is when I originally started to charge on usb, the reset option came on and I canceled it. It has never resurfaced again. Looks like I bought a brick. Any other suggestions before I dump this unit and lick my wounds? I guess the lesson is to make sure the unit powers on before buying it which I usually do. I was looking forward to playing with a unit with vga graphics.

If you are able to get to the boot loader, this thread might help.

If it won't even get to the boot loader I don't know what else to say.

Oh, have you checked the lock switch?

If Box's suggestion doesn't work, you might also want to check the battery cover. If it's not locked in place you won't be able to turn it on either.

Thanks for your input. The axim is not locked on the side (ie red does not show) and the battery cover is locked. I tried creating the boot loader with an sd card, but the axim will not even read the sd card. It does not respond to pushing the wireless button, power button and reset as instructed. Looks like I am dead. Does a non functioning axim xs50v have any value if I post it on ebay?

Kcallahan's suggestion is worth looking into.

Sometimes the little feet that make the connection don't work properly.

Try putting some tape on there and see if that makes a difference. It can't hurt to try.

Are you talking about the "feet" that slide when you push the lock switch for the battery compartment. Tried that. Again no luck.

Perhaps I have not been clear. When I am hooked up to the ac adapter, the power button turns green. When I am unhooked nothing happens. The screen does not even light up. Whats interesting is when I try to do the hard reset the battery feels warm like its working but nothing happens. Thanks for all the help.

Have you tried going into the Diagnostic mode? Plug it in to a/c power, hold down power+record buttons and then click the reset button on the back. That should get you to the diagnostics screen. IF that doesn't work, I don't know what else to suggest. At that point you may need to send it to a repair shop like PPC Tech.
