Just my 2 cents, but I bought the WM5 upgrade from Dell right when it came out, upgraded to WM5, and then rolled back to 2003 as soon as Dell released the utility.

The X50v's built-in-storage/ROM just doesn't do well with WM5 and up. Hence, it was changed it for the X51. I was getting corrupted memory errors, disappearing BIS and SD problems, and it was just plain slow as dirt. Some of the hacked roms are quicker than Dell's WM5, but It's never going to be faster than using the RAM on 2003 for storing your apps.

There are still a ton of WM2003SE apps floating around out there as well. I'd start with the sticky:
"x50v Quicklinks...Software and Tweaks You "Need"..."

Let me correct you in saying that it's a rom for X50(mid) and X50(low), not X50v.

I don't follow..? There are WM2003SE, WM5, and 6.0/6.1/6.5 ROMS for the X50v. The Internal memory "ROM" is what I was refering to as being too slow.

RAM is what is commonly referred to as memory. It is how many programs the device can support running simultaneously.

ROM is the equivalent of an operating system on a PC. It is the installed basis for all other programs to run.

If you refer to ROM as being too slow, you can flash another ROM.

I upgraded to a different WM6 rom which was faster and works very well including wifi works consistently. Its a X50V ROM WM6.1 VOIP Professional -> link

I highly recommend this ROM if you are not satisfied with the previous roms from Lenny or Maglite.

are you saying that your version of WM6 is faster than other versions of WM6? or that it is faster than WM2003?

Of course, "faster" is purely personal opinion.

I do not have a x50v, so I cannot give my review on any of the three ROMs.

From the looks of it, Makuu's WM6.1 ROM has a lot more embedded programs. Whether that is a good or bad thing, it's up to you.

By the way, the ROM does not belong to lawman, it was made by Makuu. Lawman is just suggesting a ROM.

If you want, you can try all three and see which one you like better!:approve:

Nothing beats WM2003SE but this is pretty close. I've tried many ROMs and I think I will continue to use makuu's version as the WIFI is stable and consistent with my router which is a WRT54GL running tomato firmware.

Try it out, but becareful of NOT bricking your Axim. I've used many ROMs and each ROM is better than the next. This ROM has a ramdisk incorporated which helps with the overall performance as well.
