Can't soft-reset X50V

By tipping the reset hole, my X50V responds nothing, though other keys and functions are normal. If I want to soft-reset or hard-reset, what can I do with such malfunctioning reset hole? Many thanks.

Interesting problem for sure. I assume you feel the click when you push the stylus into the reset hole. If not, it sounds like that switch may be broken.

You can do a hard reset by pulling the main battery and letting the AX sit for an hour or so until the backup drains down. Of course, you'll want to backup any of your files and programs before you do a hard reset.

You can also pickup a program like Spb Pocket Plus that allows you to soft reset through the program vice using the manual reset on the back of the AX.

SBSH PocketBreeze will also let you do a soft reset from the top RH corner of the screen.

Wisbar Advanced (and perhaps just the regular Wisbar) also has soft reset function.

Many thanks to kcallahan, davrol and Gigi for the advice.

kcallahan: I do feel the "click", so is there any mechanical trick for such click to function?

But what if (not a must though) I want to upgrade from 2003se to wm5 or 6? Is it no chance for me to complete because I cannot do "wifi-power-reset"?

The click just lets me know the switch mechanical part appears to be working. It must be something electrical. Have you pulled the battery and done a hard reset?

Yes, I got the hard reset by pulling out the battery.

Have you ever tried to unscrew the device and look what is under the reset hole?

No - I've never taken my AX apart. :)

Here's a thread on taking it apart, if you're so inclined: Instruction Video to Take Apart Your Axim X50 PDA :exc:

If you've done the hard reset by taking the battery apart, then what ever the problem it seem to be permanent. :(

Thanks for info. Just in case if other buttons become inactive.

Tried and nothing abnormal as seen from the circuit components. Still can't use soft-reset. Should be hardware problem.
