I'm trying to upgrade my x50v, now running wm2003se, to wm6.1 using the method described by johnhu_2005 (in steps, first to wm5 then to wm6). Following his instructions closely I get an error message saying "no valid image file found" The SD card has been formatted with fat32 and the progress bar indicates that the x50v sees the image files. Any suggestions welcome?

1. What is your current ROM?
2. I'm assuming the progress bar is the progress bar when it flashes... Does the "No valid image file found" error occur directly after you double-pressed the action button (The middle D-Pad)?

How did you format the card? If you format it via your desktop I think the axim might have trouble reading it..try to format it on the axim with storagetools
First, stupid question. Are you sure you are using x50v?
Next, check if your SD card is an SDHC. If it is, use a plain SD card.
