EMAIL on X50v BIG "how-to" question ! ! !

interested in using an Axim X50V to MONITOR emails - would like a tone alert (or LARGE, LONG LASTING visual alert) to notify me of an incoming email to a free webmail account (order of preference... gmail, yahoo, hotmail, aol) - i do not need to reply from my x50v, just hear or see the alert and read the email ( or beginning of email) only - this MAY mean that i can not use the builtin PIE and may need to use the builtin PocketMSN or the builtin Messaging - are these builtin programs still compatible with current email systems or are they out-of-date - is there a tutorial somewhere here for the setup?

i would appreciate anyone with knowledge of this situation replying - i had planned to sit the PDA beside the TV in the bedroom to notify me of important emails

if this can not happen, is there another cheap non-phone device that will work as i described (ie. nokia 810/800 etc)

thanx

Bump, that would be pretty effective for me too.

Off the top of my head I think there are several ways you could do this.

The main requirement is that you have the Ax on AC power and the Wifi turned on and connected.

There are several Push Email applications Emoze and Seven spring to mind but I know nothing about them.
I think Seven requires a phone.

You can use an exchange server and have the messaging application check for mail at regular intervals.
In fact I believe you can do that with Pop or Imap as well, but I may be wrong.

Windows Live can be on your today screen so that you can see any new emails at a glance.

There may be ways of setting an Audio alert as well, but I've never tried.

Personally I prefer to get my email when I want to and not have it interrupting me all the time.

That's a start for things to look into, hope it helps.
