At about Christmas time i bought a dell Axim x50v with wm6 AO2 pre-flashed onto it off of ebay. I bought an extended battery (2200mAh i believe) off of ebay also, and it has been working just fine, too. I have been using one of those duel usb sync\charge cables hooked up to a usb AC adapter to charge it. About 2 days ago, i fully charged my axim until the power light was green (before the charge it was still working, just low on battery). The next day I tried turning it on, but nothing worked. the power button, reset button, nor any other button worked. I have had a problem like this before, but that time i just had to take the battery out for a few seconds, plug it back in, turn it on, and then push the contacts button because there was some "memory error."
Anyways, taking the battery out wouldnt do anything this time, so i put it back on the charger, and the orange charging light on the x50v would turn on, but never go green. Then i read somewhere on these forums that someone had taken their battery out for 20 minutes and it worked. I just tried that, and now when i plug it in the orange power light flashes frantically (really, really fast).
Anyone know what to do or what might have happened?
Thanks a lot everyone!
EDIt: and yes, i have been using a usb AC adapter to charge it, not a computer usb port
Try using the cradle to charge it for a few hours. Then try to power it on.
A memory error usually signifies a hard shock to the device. Have you dropped the Axim recently?

Your "charge cord", is it a USB connector with a slot for a power connector?

no, my "charge cord" is a non-official cheap-o cable i bought from ebay because my axim didnt come with one. i would give a link to what it looks like on ebay, but there's this dang rule that i need 15 posts.
so no, it has no slot for a power connector.
If i get 15 posts, ill give you a picture.
EDIT: ok, ill cheat the system a litte bit. ht tp://cgi.ebay.com/For-Dell-Axim-X50-X50v-X51-X51v-USB-Sync-Charger-Cable_W0QQitemZ280322748573QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPDA_ Accessories?hash=item280322748573&_trksid=p3286.c0 .m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240 %3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

Reason: needed to add a link
Point made.
USB doesn't provide enough "oomph" to power up an Axim once its charge is completely drained.
You need a power cord that is power by a wall socket.
Something like this.
You can look around for a cheap price online. But be sure to see that it has a AC adapter, not a USB charger.

As John mentioned, the USB charger doesn't supply enough current to charge a low battery.
Leave the X50 off and connected to your USB charger over night and the backup should recharge.
If it doesn't then you will need to look into replacing it.

Thanks for the save, Box.
The obvious solution is the one that is right.
Off topic:
Yes Box, I understand. Just realized I cannot hotlink the image. So my effort wasted. Don't you have anything better to do than taunting me?
Oh, at least somebody have the sense to make their Photobuck account private and add a password. :approve:

ok. there are some definate questions i have here. i have the axim on right now, plugged usb charger, which is plugged into an AC adaptor. now, the battery bar at the top RH corner shows that the battery is full. When i click on it though, it says that the battery is at a 0% charge and that the main battery is "AC Only," which i know is not true because i can unplug the axim from power and it still works just fine. below that, it says "Backup Battery: Low".
Now, even though my axim is plugged in, the orange charge light at the top isnt even on anymore. If i unplug the cord and then plug it back in, the orange charge light on the top goes on for less that one second, and then turns off again. If i turn the device off, the same thing happens - when i plug the power in the orange charging light only blinks on for a short second. Once the axim is off, it seems that i cannot turn it back on again except when i plug it in at push the power button at the exact second that the orange charge light blinks on and off.
I dont want to turn off my axim for fear of never getting it back on again! if you both think it is the best idea, though... i guess i will...
Oh, and even though the orange light only blinks on for a second and then turns off again, does that mean its still charging, or its doing nothing?
EDIT: disregard much of that - i was stupid and had the battery in backwards. Now, using the method described above, is the only way to turn the thing on. If i have the battery in PROPERLY, it doesnt turn on at all. again. I think that i will just let it sit, plugged in overnight, and see what happens. (best course of action)
As John mentioned, the USB charger doesn't supply enough current to charge a low battery.

My X50v is charging from the cradle connected to my PC via the USB cable - no AC power connected.
The X50v must be off and it takes quite a long time :o
Temporaroly, at least. after a scary series of events, it finally rebooted.
the only thing now is that when it turned on, it said that the backup battery was very low and i should replace it to prevent data loss.
is the back up battery rechargable, or a button cell battery thing? how easy is it to access? and do i really need to replace it?
For reference, the backup battery is a very tiny battery with a tiny wire and tiny plug attached to it, and it is plugged into the PDA's motherboard. To replace it, you essentially need to take apart the PDA by unscrewing the back cover. I never opened my X50v, but I did open an older Axim X3 to access the backup battery. It is not a simple task, but it is doable.
