Hi everyone !!! Been a while since I visited this forum. Glad to see some familiar names are still here. :)
I just purchased a used Axim X50v, and it has WM6 A02 (18.09.07) installed.
I went to the
XDA-developers website, and determined it was the MagLite_RUS A02 version.
Previously I have been using an Axim X30 with PPC 2003se.
My new X50v has practically nothing installed. It was hard-reset at the time of purchase. The only things I loaded so far were a few Google Mobile apps (maps, email) which I obtained directly from Google's website.
There are several problems that I am immediately noticing on my X50v.
1) When browsing the internet, my X50v takes a very long time to load large webpages, like large threads from forums similar to mobility-site.
2) When these large pages finally do load, and I try to scroll up/down, it takes forever to make these pages advance forward and backward. On my X30, these same pages load much faster, and scroll with absolutely no problems?
3) This morning I had trouble connecting to my home WiFi. So after rebooting my router and cable modem, I noticed my X50v required that I re-enter the WEP key. For some reason, when the X50v has issues connecting to my WiFi, it deletes the WEP key I had previously typed in, and forces me to re-key it in. My X30 never had this problem?
4) I have no slider switch to adjust memory between Storage and Program. Is this feature no longer available in WM 6?
5) Should I load a different ROM than the one I have now? Which is the version people currently favor the most on their X50v? Or should I consider downgrading it back to PPC 2003 SE?
6) The female connector on the bottom of my X50v (for attaching to cradle, USB, charging, etc) does not working consistantly, so I plan to charge my batteries outside in the cradle, and then use WiFi for synching instead of cradle/usb. I'll then load new apps either from .cab files loaded to an SD card, or from a WiFi sync.
Since I am having trouble with my bottom connector, can I apply a ROM upgrade while powering my X50v from a battery, instead of using AC power?
7) In general ... have people been mostly happy with their X50v's? I do like the high-res VGA screen, but are they too much of a hassle otherwise? I am very surprised to see my older X30 seems to work better in some ways than my newer X50v?
I had originally planned on buying a used X51v, but the price of this used X50v was too good to pass up, even with the connector issue.
Thanks for everyone's help with my above questions !!! :)
