x50v power light goes out and resets with memory error

My x50v has started locking up lately. If I shake it lightly or move it around the power light goes out with the power adapter plugged in. If at that point I unplug the power adapter the display goes out. When I hit the power button again I get the message"To clear all memory, press---, to cancel this operation press ---". If I press the envelope button it re boots. If I press the other button it re initializes.

I'm wondering if it's toast or if maybe there's a loose ribbon connection or something that could cause this. :(

Thanks

The memory error often occurs after your Axim hits a hard surface (A drop) or for some other reasons.

A hard reset may solve this. Be sure to back up all personal data first! To do so, press and hold the power button. Then press the reset whole while holding the power button. Press the envelope button (2nd from left) to accept.

You will be left with a "brand-new" Axim. See if that solves the problem.

Check the battery connectors.
Sometimes the connectors get dirty or bent.
Sounds very much hardware and not software to me.

Nope,

I've hard reset it 3 times to no avail. I checked the battery connectors and they appear fine. The battery holds a charge and I don't think jostling the battery itself should do this so it must be something inside the x50v? Would dell repair this out of warranty or do a swap for a fee?

Thanks

Did the problem start after a fall? Maybe you need to take it apart and check for loose connectors. Does anything rattle around when you shake it?

I doubt you'd get any kind of bargain from Dell. You'd be better off looking on eBay or posting a want ad in the "Classifieds" thread.
