No recognition of new battery

Here's the problem, my Axim no longer has recognition of a new/fresh battery. After I stick in a new battery, & power up, I first get the hard reboot screen (do you want to reset the system, or not).

Then, if I choose not to wipe everything, the Axim acts as if the battery has the same amount of charge as the previous battery had. (If there was 30% left, there is still 30%.)

I've tried hard rebooting & using a backup to restore everything, but that hasn't worked. I could go so far as hard rebooting & reinstalling everything, but I'm not keen to try it.

Any suggestions of what I can do?

My system is a Axim X50v
I've got A05 Rom Version
I also use Magic Button the keep tabs on the battery (however the Axim system files have the same issue. And I've tried replacing the battery w/ Magic Button shut off.)

Take a look at this thread.

It seems to be an universal problem among x50v. Unfortunately, it cannot be fixed.

Battery swap does work in x51v, I guess Dell fixed it.

Well this sucks. I'm going to Comic Con next week & this will really put a crimp in the amount of usage I can get out of my Axim. Not sure if I should consider a replacement, or if I should just get a battery with really long usage.

Any suggestions as to what I should do?

For a replacement, I'd like something like an Axim that uses CF cards & SD cards. I also wouldn't mind if it could use my TE-CF100 compact flash ethernet card (but that might be asking too much).

I know I just can't deal with a laptop, as hunching over that kind of thing is awful for me & I only use computing on the road via a Axim like device.

And as I mentioned, I'm also looking for extended batteries for the Axim. Where can I find something like that cheap? (At least cheap enough to justify hanging onto my Axim & not seriously looking into a replacement.)

Kevin

It is actually pretty easy to deal with this problem.

Make sure you run your first battery to about 30%. Then switch out to your second battery. It will still say 30% but you still get full usage of the second battery.

The reason I recommend 30% is because at 20-25%, the low battery warning kicks in. Then the amber lights starts to flash and it gets annoying. Just remember not to run your first battery to less than 1% or your second battery is useless.
