Aximsitex50icon X50 will not power up and will not reset

My constant companion and memory tool of 4 years is extremely sick.

I walked into a meeting and powered up my X50 to take notes. Nothing happened. I tried a reset and still nothing. I took out the battery and got a memory error and pressed the contacts key as instructed and nothing. I did a hard reset (RESET + Power) and nothing.

I tried the diagnostic mode (REC + Power) and it goes into the diagnostic screen. I pressed the Mail key as instructed and NOTHING.

Now if and only if I remove the battery and power on, the screen only says "To clar all data in the memory, press .... The keys do not work. I tested the battery and it is good.

Interesting.

Did you try the bootloader? It is the same steps as the diagnostic mode EXCEPT you switch the record button with the wi-fi button. So it would be Power+WiFi+Reset.

I'm not sure what you mean by 90%. Do you mean it will not display the today screen? Or, can't enter anything? Please explain a little better.

Ps - Welcome to Mobilitysite.

I think pba86 means that the boot bar (On the bottom of the Dell boot screen) gets stuck at near 90% after a hard reset.

Did you try another hard reset?

Thank you both for the rapid answer :)

Johnhu, you are right, the boot bar gets stuck near 90 after a hard reset, I explain the complet "story" :

- the x50v stop working so as some time I made a reset (only the back button)
=> nothing appears except the fact that the boot bar stop near 90%
so I decided to make a hard reset which run :-) but following that I put the x50v on the base link to the computer and I start to put the synchro software on my computer (I bought the PDA 3 month ago and haven't have the use with the link between PDA and computer => the man who sold me the pda have install everything inside (tomtom, igo, skyfire and was already in wn6.0). During the installation, i saw that i do not have to plug usb and decided to unplug ( ) and then the pda stop... and i try to make hard reset but still stuck :-( .

I remove the battery, nothing....
Made a new hard reset... nothing (POWER+reset and the message push on of the two button (calendar and?)
I decided to make the RECORD + POWER + RESET => it works (my pda still alife ?) but after the test (which was ok) still stuck :(

The trouble is that i'm not an expert in computer and i don't know which step I have to make to reboot with SD card...

Thanks for your help

Philippe

A hard reset is Power + Reset and pressing the calendar button (Second one from the left) to confirm. It is only one button to confirm.

If that does not work, the only thing left is the bootloader. Are you using Windows Mobile 2003 SE or Windows Mobile 5?

My x50v was before with wm6 but I don't know if the Hard reset (with calendar button) has download a former windows mobile (when I see the wn after the hard rese, it look not like before but i was perhaps because the french language leave the pda?

So i'm a afraid to put the wrong bootloader...

thanks to give me how to give x50v life

Philippe

Try using Lenny's WM6.1 A09 for x50v. Here is the download page. You have to register at his website and download #Test 2.

Once you extract the file, you should receive a .nb0 and .crc file. Put those on a SD card and into your Axim. Then enter the bootloader via Power+Reset+ Wi-Fi button (Same as diagnostic mode except with the WiFi button). Then select the .nb0 file in the bootloader. Next, press the action button (Center button of the D-Pad) twice.

Once the process completes, you will be prompted to do a hard reset (Power+Reset). Then see if your Axim starts up.

Philippe

PS : I've a thinkoutside keyboard IRa, do you know if the Ira Trouble mention in the HTCgeek has been resolve? => Ok, I have read that the IRda run with wm6.1 in the showthread 363 page=4 in the forum htcgeeks :)

Hello johnhu,

just to be sure: the version of 6.0 i have, before the hard reset i have made, was certainely one of Makuu (i didn't install any rom since it was the guy who sold me the x50v who made the different upload).

=> there is no problem of compatibility with upload an wm6.1 from Lennysh?

thanks in advance for the response.
