You don't mention any error messages or general symptoms, so it's difficult to determine whether this is a PC or pda problem. It's easy to assume that it's a PC problem (because you've installed SP2), but that might not be the case. Moreover, the solution to your problem might be as simple as upgrading to XP's
service pack 3 (it's been available for a while!).
Failing a further OS upgrade (and bearing in mind that it's been a while since I've used Activesync), here are just a few random thoughts about what I would look for in the same circumstances:
- Make sure that you have set up a partnership in AS (I know that I don't need to tell you this, but better safe than sorry
)
- Make sure that AS is set to sync files with your pda. If memory serves, you'll find this as an option and checking it will put a sync folder on your desktop
- Check for the latest updates for your version of MS Office
- As you have recently upgraded your OS, make sure that you haven't inadvertently reset or changed your firewall settings
- Make sure that you've run a system wide AV scan (just in case)
- If the pda is not syncing at all, check the USB port and/or look for a BIOS update from the pc's manufacturer
- Have you tried different versions of AS? When you upgraded AS last time, did you reboot your machine between removing the existing version before installing the other (or kill all of the relevant processes)? It could be that the install has just been corrupted - try uninstalling AS and reinstalling it.
- Have you tried a soft reset on the pda (backup your files and settings first)?
- Have you tried a hard reset (definitely backup your files and settings first!)?
I hope that one of these suggestions will help, but if not, let us know what doesn't work (i.e. what you've already tried) and I'm sure that someone can help diagnose the problem.
