Its going to take several people all calling and being persistant. Also the more re-producable you can make it on a bare-bones Axim, the better.. ie. if you can do a HW reset, then launch X number of things and get it to happen, then you have a good case to make with Dell.
It really would be nice if they'd sticky some of these bug threads so we could condense the info to one place.
Oh, and it might sounds crazy but start with the email support and send them a set of links here with everyone complaining about the problem... I did that with the BT issue and I think it bought the issue some credibility with them (still working that, but might finally be making progress)
Cheers,
Mike
I'm right behind you on this Mike. I'm so so so so angry about the Bt/wifi issues. I'm honestly feeling like I should send it back to Dell for a refund. I like the x50v WAY more than the x30H I had, but my x30H never had any of these problems! I have had issues other than this. If these problems are fixed, I'm one happy camper. As it is....
I did a little testing (mostly informal), and seem to have possibly eliminated the problem under the following three conditions:
1) I try to give a good 40MB for program ram. This value seems trival, right now, but it gives me peace of mind.
2) I manually start wi-fi from the icon > turn on. I don't trust that wireless power button. But this might be trival as well.
3) Power save mode set to disable. I figure the x50v is a battery guzzler anyway and any energy saved isn't worth the trouble if this solves the problem.
Also, I don't have pocketplus installed. I only liked the close button trick and the battery meter but trancreative's magic button gets the job done with nearly zero overhead. The IE tweak doesn't quite work as expected (garbage in the switch window dialog), but i'll save this rant for another thread.
Had real problems connecting, freezing screens, etc. Dumped Battery Pack Pro and everything works fine! Tried contacting Omega and they seem to be asleep with a new revision. I get no response.

Guys - chill. We get complaints with too many stickies and complaints if threads aren't stickied. You have to realise that not EVERYONE can be pleased at once.
But I'm going to ban anyone that complains about stickies ever again :)
When the threads are merged the posts will be represented in chronological order - this may result in some loss of clarity when re-reading
For the record - there are I think 9 stickies in the General X50 forum. If you can't display more than 10 threads on a page take a look at your settings, you're in the minority. Can't please everyone all the time.
:) There was mention of a poll too. If someone know the URL of it (I had a look and couldn't see it) let me know and I'll see if it's suitable for merging too.

I was having problems with an unrecognized network card and couldn't connect to my wireless network. I found a thread on another forum thread which said to check the available program memory. I was down to 5MB and adjusted the slider bar to provide more to the program side and low and behold, my wireless is now working like charm. Maybe that will help...Good Luck
I actually did the hard reset with a CF card in place (nothing on the card) and it's still in there now. I'll yank it out for the rest of the night and see if anything changes. Still solid at this point.

Hi, I just recieved my evil X50v two days ago, Im willing to hard reset up a storm, I have a number of programs but nothing I cant ditch, Im strugggling right off with the freaky..yes/no Bluetooth exists, and fight the WLAN issues. I would like to trade all this resetting for an available mentor to help me with little stuff (like PC naive-bad case of it). Im a Nurse Practitioner grad student, need to get up and running but have lots of home time to torment and be tormented by my new PDA.
Any takers? If not...any help/suggestions with a file manager program to move stuff to the CF, suggestions on whether to ditch CF for SD, or just buy monster 4gb I read about on other forum. Im also utterly failing to get my email/internet set up - well got it halfway then it crashed or wouldnt send stuff, would accept, just not send. The manual for this PDA is LEAN to useless. Plus I had a Handera last time, so Im not a natural PPC-person.
Someone (or many someones) should now send a link to this thread to Dell tech support in support of the ticket they've opened.....(I'm still fighting the BT problem, so I'll stick to that for now).
Ok... so after a little messing around ( I loathe the idea of a hard reset) I went to Funk Software http://www.funk.com and downloaded their beta Oydessy client. I too was having the Unrecognized problem. After installing the beta oydessy client my problem with the Unrecognized device went away. After numerous soft resets it seems to have fixed the problem. I am still having the not enough memory for bluetooth error unless I reset.. Then it seems to work fine. For some reason it seems that I can either only run Bluetooth or only run Wifi..If bluetooth is on then I can never get the Wifi working and vice versa. This seems to me a driver issue between the bluetooth and the wifi. I know that has been suggested earlier in the thread. It seems as long as you start up the odyseey client up prior to enabling wifi, it works without a hitch. Anyone know where to get a newer bluetooth driver? I am sure the people at dell will drag their feet to patch this problem. I want solutions NOW as I paid plenty for my x50v. Enough so that it really irritates me that I should have to try to figure out their problems for them. Enough of my rant. I hope this helps some of you get it working!
I don't have the Odyssey Client installed in RAM anymore. I deleted it, so I don't think that can be the cause of the problem. I only have the version that is stored in ROM, which you can't delete/overwrite.

But you are having the Unrecognized WLAN problem right? Once I installed the newer Odyssey client my problem went away. So in effect I have it installed twice I suppose but my thought is that something is wrong with OC to begin with. Maybe entirely unrelated but it worked for me.
But how could it be causing the problem if I deleted it, and how could it have fixed the problem if you can't delete the version in ROM?
Because you can't delete the version in rom ( which undoubtedly it loads from ) is why I believe it's causing the problem. Considering I've told it (in my estimation) to not look in rom for the program anymore, look to the one I installed it works. I don't pretend to KNOW that this is the case, but 3 days on, it's been working like a champ, prior to this, I couldn't get it to work half the time. Dell should just fix this! Not leave end users to fend for themselves. I expect them to patch this...
I also used live chat, and provided the link to this thread. I had little trouble getting a replacement sent. Of course I did have to assure the support tech that I had tried a hard reset already! Then he sugestted I make sure I had sufficient program memory available, only keep three days of browser history and move applications to built-in storage. Once I assured him that I had plenty of available memory for programs (12.91MB) and NO internet histroy, since I couln't get a sustained internet connection without doing asoft reset every time I turned the darn thing on he authorized the replacement. All in all, not to bad a support experience.
