I have had that same problem, just received the x50v last week, and already a replacement is on it's way. The forum here helped me decide to talk to tech support, and their advice was to return the unit. I also followed someone's advice here to load the programs on the storage card and not on main memory. that helped, but it still wouldn't recognize and work with my BT keyboard. that has gone back too, and now I'm lost without a keyboard.. and Dell are out of stock of wired ones. Where shoul I go for third party keyboards?

Ok... so I uninstalled the OC program and it still works, so all my theories were wrong just as I thought that this would work. Even so the wireless seems to function properly more than before but I can't seem to get it to connect to a WPA secured hub. Any thoughts?

People here. Listen to me. DO NOT bother getting a refurb replacement. There's absolutely no point. You do realise that you risk having OTHER issues with your replacement, such as dead pixels, dead speakers, etc etc. Your PDA works FINE. It's a software issue. There's NO question about that.

I wish people would READ.

Question

Hi,

I am new to this forum and I have been reading through the threads on the WIFI problem. I too, have been experiencing the same problem. I decided to "play" a little. I went into the WLAN Wireless Adapter setup and changed for USE SERVER-ASSIGNED IP ADDRESS to USE SPECIFIC IP ADDRESS. Once I put in all the correct data, I was able to get back on the internet. :)

As I said, I am new to the forum, but not to Axim's. If this is off base, please disreguard.

I would still like to know why WIFI will not work with SERVER-ASSIGNED IP ADDRESS. When I first got my x50v, it did. I have had the x50v about 3 weeks.

Thanks for listening,
Pam

This problem is driving me nuts!
Can only get one working at a time - soft resetting all the time.

All of us could contact DELL every hour on the hour and complain - just like our expensive X50v's are telling us of our WLAN and BT problems!

I'm going to contact dell everyday. I'll use the CHAT service (at least the people have half a brain), it's better than getting a clueless person in India or Panama.

I'm experimenting - Did HARD reset.
First no activesync - No memory leak - No BT or WiFi problems
testing it off and on for 2 hours
Partnered with PC - using activesync - No memory leak - No BT or WiFi problems.
W2003SE is not the problem (and so far BT and WiFi are working perfectly)
Will start adding software. Will report findings

I had the problem with the unknown network card from the moment I installed the bt keyboard. When I say problem, I mean the message would pop up, I'd chose dell thing (because I couldn't think whatelse to choose) and it'd go on.

Dell replaced my first axim back then, and I kind of gave up on trying to get a BT keyboard working, til I read a message here the other night.

I finally got BT working, but kept getting the unrecognized card in slot 2 error, even after I tried the dell thing.

Finally, I disconnected wireless (internet), reset, turned on BT wireless, set up the keyboard (with the axim NOT on the cradle). then I clicked the icon for wireless internet, clicked turn on, about 3 times (with it not going on the first 2) on the 3rd click, I had both internet and bt running, then put it on the cradle, and it sync'd, with wireless and bt still on.

Not sure if that mishmash will help anyone, but if you try it that way, it may work for you too

I did exactly what your doing. Made it as far as installing PocketBreeze, ContactBreeze, WeatherPanel and HP Mobile printing. With that setup it still working fine *EVERY* time. I literally never had to do a soft reset for weeks :) Finally decided to go for it a bit more (added Resco explorer, Beta Player and Bejeweled) Went into Beta Player, started up wireless and poof, error. Not that it helps anything, but I hoping people find some common thread amoung the software that seems to make things worse.

Findings Update: Testing for Memory Leak and BT / WiFi Issues

By the way, I have the ROM update installed
Installed Pocket Plus in main memory.
Tested for a hour - no problems (no ML, BT, or WiFi issues)
Installed new WeatherPanel 2.2.11 in main memory
Tested - got the socket 2 - WiFi error a few times (20% of the time)
Soft reset solved the problem everytime.

Is it WeathePanel ?, Today's Plug-In ?,
Will do more testing tonight - have to work ;)

I can tell you that it wouldn't be anything sepecific to WeatherPanel. I was able to run a fresh (hard reset) system with PocketBreeze, ContactBreeze, Weather Panel and HP Mobile printing for like 2 weeks without a single unrecognized card error. (I Wifi like 5+ times a day easily) I'm positive that if you hard reset and just put WeatherPanel on there you would be running fine. :rolling: I have no experience with Pocket Plus..

Findings Update: Testing for Memory Leak and BT / WiFi Issues

Question:
Has anyone had the BT or WiFi problems/errors without any today's plug-ins installed(e.g. WeatherPanel, Pocket Plus, etc.)?
To restate: If you don't install/use 3-party today's plug-ins - you won't have BT/WiFi problems/errors. (Is this true?)

cst516,
Do you have any task bar (bottom bar) programs installed (e.g. pocketCandy), programs that are in "startup"?

Last night testing,
My steam account/software (Half-Life 2) kicked in while installing a program to axim x50v and killed it.
I soft reset - got BT error, Wifi socket 2 error, and my soft keyboard started and stayed on ! :(
Had to Hard Reset before going to bed.

More testing this weekend.

Tim
