I am getting an error - Unrecognized Card "Network Card in Socket 2." There is no card in Socket 2. When I get this error, I cannot connect to WiFi. A soft reset cures the problem. Once or twice a day is getting to be a pain. Picture of the error attached.

That's the same error I got on an Ipaq 2215 when a D-Link Wifi CF card died, and likely indicates a faulty wifi unit in your device. Resets worked with the D-Link for a while, but I finally had to replace the card. You may want to call Dell for an exchange.

I'm not having as much luck with Dell CS this go around. I'm having the same "unrecognized card" problem (among other less important problems).
First, they wouldn't admit that they sent me an X50v. Their records apparently show they sent an X50! (I've heard other people have the same issue: I need to go home and see what the shipping box says on it). I explained that my unit says X50v on it and so does my order history, but that didn't seem to dissuade her. In fact, she had me go to the connection settings and asked me what I saw (just to see if I said WLAN utility, Odyssey, etc.) I told her the wi-fi worked for a couple of days, then quit.
She went on to tell me that not all X50v's have Wi-Fi on them and that you have to order that special! I tried to tell her that all X50v's have wi-fi built in and she said (sir, I should know - I WORK here!). It was like talking to a brick wall.
I called Dell from work, so I didn't have a wireless network to test it on. So the conversation ended there. I forwarded my problem to another CS rep who had been helpful in the past. We'll see if that provides better results.

Wow, I can't believe they gave you that much trouble! I have already received a return authorization on my x50v for this same issue. I used Dell support chat, and spoke with "Dylan." I simply provided him the link to this thread, he reviewed it, and offered to send me a new one right away. You should really try the support chat for handhelds. Apparently they are familiar with the problem and have no qualms about sending out replacement units. I do have the one year complete care on my Axim though, so I don't know if that makes a difference. Just tell them that you have spoke directly to other Dell customers who are receiving replacements for the same problem and that you want the same satisfaction. I don't know how they could deny you a replacement at that point.
Hope it Helps,
Dr. Gonzo

Thanks Doc. I did that. She was just "not very bright". I haven't given up quite yet, but I'll wait a day or two until this other rep returns my e-mail.
Unfortunately, since I didn't have a wi-fi network available when I called her, she wouldn't go any further discussing the issue. The funny thing was that when I called Dell CS, the first thing they asked me was whether this was a wi-fi issue. When I said it was, I was re-directed to a "wi-fi specialist". That tells me they are having HUGE wi-fi problems with this model. I've never had anyone at Dell CS ask me that before.

You should really try the handheld support chat. Dylan, the rep that I spoke to, was familiar with this problem. Once I told him other customers were receiving replacements he wanted to see the link to this thread. I gave it to him, and 5 minutes later he was filling out the form to get me a new unit.

Could you post a link to the support chat? I have the "Advance Exchange 1Yr Limited Warranty", so I assume I can access it?
EDIT: Well, I got another "wi-fi specialist". I'm at least convinced she can read, because that's about all she did: read off her prepared material. We ended up doing a hard reset and I stopped getting the messages. She is convinced it is a software issue with one of my programs (cough cough Journal Bar cough cough).
Anyway, no new X50v for me! Which is fine, as long as the problem stays away. I'm going to keep JB and BP off my PPC for a while and see what happens.

JB & BP - the problem?
Since my hard reset, all has been well. I've carefully put software back on my PPC. So far I have reinstalled:
PI
Listpro
SE_VGA
Pocket Breeze (the SE_VGA friendly version)
Newsbreak (trial only)
Snails
eWallet
Pocket TV
I have not put Journal Bar and Battery Pack back on yet. I'm thinking they might have caused the problem as some sort of software conflict: but its just a guess. I'd hate to think it, because they are my favorite programs of all!
Any thoughts on my theory?

I'm waiting on my exchange which will take over a week for it to be shipped. Anyway, I keep looking at my "defective unit?"
I too get the Bluetooth BBTRAY error that says license expired. Ispent over 6 hours on the phone with dell doing (I've lost count) hard resets. Manually loading IP addresses and DNS addresses. At no time was I told to check WLAN to see if there were any entries.
When I checked that it has always said "no driver loaded".....and there have been no entries. I never attempted to load any software to my unit....so is this part of the reason I can't get WIFI to work?
I'm so new to this that I want to make sure its not me....and when the replacement comes....should this be the first place to look to ensure there is a driver loaded?

Same "no driver" thing for me.
My X50 says the same thing....no driver present, or whatever. That is the first thing I thought, I need the driver for WiFi to work. I am curious to see if anyone else would agree that my WiFi isn't working because it doesn't have a driver.....chortle, snort.

Hey guys,
I just wanted to say that there are a couple of quick fixes for this problem in this thread:
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=57839
They are only temporary, the problem will come back, but hopefully this will get you by until Dell releases an update.
FWIW,
Dr. Gonzo

So what's the story on this problem? Should we send them back for a replacement or is it an OS thing? I have gotten this error too

I wonder if Dell sent out a bad batch of these things. I did notice on my original unit it came shipped in a box labeled "X50" even though it contained a X50V, the new packaging is labeled "X50V."

Hi Franco,
Did the problem re-occur with your replacement?

I contacted Dell today and they said it was a network card hardware problem and a replacement is on the way - anyone else have the same problem again after receiving a replacement?

I had this problem when I initially got the x50v, but a hard reset fixed it, and it hasn't come back yet.
