For the record, I have 16.4MB of "Program" memory and STILL WiFi & BT won't work simultaneously (25% of the TOTAL AVAILABLE onboard RAM isn't enough to run standard X50v features?)...that's pretty bad.

No, you can use BT and WiFi at the same time. I do that all the time. You just have to soft reset when the memory message pops up, then start WiFi and BT before you do anything else. It's not a big deal.

Maybe 440 people voted like me--it doesn't matter.

Glad that I could help :)
JakeRich, I wish that my users were as forgiving as you. I could get by with some pretty crappy software releases.

Actually, I'm pretty hard on software and dump a lot of what I test because of bugs/undocumented features/missing features. It's just that I don't view an occasional soft reset as a reason to get that upset. The bottom line is that in a perfect world all software would place nice together, but that perfect world doesn't exist. Soft resets are relatively painless and fix 90% of the problems I have seen, including the BT issue.

I cannot start both BT and wifi without doing that trick of starting BT really quick on startup.
I have pocketbreeze, spb plus, journal bar and GPRS monitor running on my x50v. I'm quite sure if I remove them I would be ok but that's not acceptable to me. Plus is very important to me for managing memory.

You've got several things competing for space and operations there. It's not surprising that BT can't start. I have Wisbar Advance 2, Sprite Backup montitoring, TDlaunch and PIToday on my startup. BT starts just fine. I do get the memory message if I start Odyssey before BT, but if I soft reset, fire up WiFI, then fire up BT, it works perfectly, with an alternating blue and green flash. I do disable Odyssey when wifi is off. I've found that leaving Odyssey enabled seems to generate more BT problems. My shutdown process is to stop WiFi through the bottom icon, disable Odyssey, then stop BT. I soft reset most times just as a cleansing process, but this sequence normally works even without that unless I've been playing with ill-behaved software.

I have 40 MB's allocated for program memory and I've never had a problem.
Maybe you guys should follow suit... there's a Built In storage section for a reason...

First of all, I don't use odyssey.
I'm not buying that 24MB (12MB in each program and storage) isn't enough free memory.
There is something wrong with the OS or the drivers. Maybe some reserved memory block that is being exceeded with startup programs and devices.
I install most everything in the built in storage that isn't a today plugin or that doesn't specifically ask for main memory.
I'm sure that my x50v will run just fine without anything installed but that's not acceptable. I could understand if I only had about 5MB free that my memory would get tight but that's not the case.
Make all the justification or excuses that you want. Something is wrong with this device the way it is today. I can deal with a reset every 2-3 days but not multiple times a day. It's not acceptable and I think it's crazy that others think it's OK.

Actually, it's kinda amusing that this is such a big deal to some of you.
There's nothing wrong with device. I've installed practically EVERYTHING to BIS, and like I posted about, have about 40 MB's available for program memory.
There's a reason that you have BIS. Use it.

Glad it's amusing to you. I just get mad when I want to use my BT GPS, it turns into a big ordeal. It should be very simple.

I use BT GPS every day. I turn on the BT GPS receiver, I press the button to activate BT on the X50, I start the mapping software, the units bind and I'm off and running. I don't know how much more simple it can get. At my destination I shut down the map software, press the button to disable BT on the Axim and then turn off the GPS receiver. I do shut off WiFi as I have described when it is not in use, so when I start this process WiFi is not running, nor is Odyssey. The button defaults to BT only, which is my primary wireless mode. For security and battery reasons I keep WiFi and BT off unless I am using them.

Pared- I think most people here know to store programs in BIS. There are some programs, such as Today Plug-in's, etc, that should be installed in BIS. I for one have over 25 programs stored on BIS and I've only got 25 to 30 meg free, yet I still get the error (Note-My "Program Files" directory is 4.2 meg total). You have to consider that some apps store dlls, etc in the windows directory which take up main storage space on the unit.
