whenever i use a 128MB CF card made by viking in 2002 in my axim 50v, i get "unrecognized card. Enter the name of the device driver for this card" and then in the box for entry it says "Unidentified network card." the error pops up whenever i start the axim. anyone have any thoughts as to why or how fix?
thanks.
ps--cross-posted from axim accessories where it doesn't really fit. sorry.
Chekc around to see if that particular brand has compatability issues. Also check to see if it's type II CF, i know the axim likes those, not so sure how it deals with type I.
You could also try reformatting the card in a card reader. if you haven't formatted it already, it may just be that the card is an unformatted disk to the machine, get my drift? Throw it in a card reader and have windows (preferrably xp) take care of formatting it.

i am having the same problem occasionally with my scandisk 2gb cf. i pull the card out and put it back in and the x50v sees it under memory. i get the same message with 4 & 5 gb hitachi & seagate microdrives. both useless since i can't use them on x50v. i don't know if its an issue with them or some drivers needed in x50v to run them. thanks dan
I have a Transcend 512MB cf card, and sometimes it reads it, but it sparatically will stop recognizing it, and then I have to keep trying until it stops giving me that "unrecognized card" error. I've already tried to reformat, which helped once, but now it's doing it again. I have an x50v also... any help???
Me too. It seems looking at other posts that it also happens on CF WIFI cards. I have two Kingston 2GB CF Elite Pro cards one has been formated as FAT and then again as FAT 32 with no results but does allow me to copy and open files from it. The other has not been touched and does the same thing. I have only had the cards 1 day so I do not know what the longer term problems may be.

I get the same error with my 256MB SanDisk SD card. From what I have read on another thread here, it may be one of the issues addressed in a Dell ROM update (no date given for a release yet, though). Here's hoping!

Is the CF card working in another device (like a card reader or a camera) ? The card could be damaged, it happens.

I got my card working again. I took the card out, soft reset with the space filler that came with it, and put the card back in and it recognized it right away. Hopefully it lasts.
I did notice that it stopped recognizing the card when I was using Mapopolis. My maps were stored on the cf card, and then ending the program not only caused Mapopolis to stop working, but it wouldn't recognize the card.
The card becomes unrecognizable at different times. I had to keep reseting the card. I noticed that pushing the card against the edge, while sliding it in, seems to work often. This is a really weird problem with the x50v. I feel like I'm trying to get old Nintendo games to work in the console...
If you're having problems with Mapopolis too, I can't open my maps after I end the Mapopolis program. Before I rerun Mapopolis, I have to delete mapopst file in the Mapopolis program folder. This looks like the map list, so deleting it will rewrite the map list. I have to do this everytime, which sucks. This may be an issue for another thread, but does anyone have any tips for me?
I just got a 512mb PQI CF card and It wont be recognized by my Axim X50v.
Does anyone else have any ideas what to do? is there a driver that allready exists that we can use the card with?

My TwinMos 1GB SD Card also occasionally facing similar problem. At times, when i open up Resco Explorer, it cannot detect the card. This does not happen when I put the SD card into my digital camera!

Not to hijack the thread, but Mapopolis doesn't like to be ended by the X in the upper right corner. Use Tools/Exit to gracefully close it down. If you have other questions, post them in the GPS forum.
