Dialing from x50 to a v600...
I have been trying to setup my x50 to dial to my motorola v600 via bluetooth. I can pair and send files fine. Headset works on the v600 too. When I use the "Dial via Bluetooth" function in standard contacts, it connnects to the phone and gives an "unknown error" afterwards. I have tried third party dialers such as listed on the Bluetooth guide on this site, but I can't get those to work either. I tried dialing from my computer and it actually connects and attempts to dial but drops the call and says the modem doesn't respond (which is much farther than I get on my Axim). Any help would be great...

... I suppose your bluetooth on the PHONE is permanently on, and not only switches on when you send files over?
Does it work with any other phone?

I mean there is an on/off master setting for bluetooth... and that is on. I don't really have another phone to test it with. It seems that when I transfer files, the connection is ... "paused" in between commands as it needs to quickly reestablish connection...

I tried dailing a number from my computer and it actually gets to the point of dialing... but then quickly disconnects and says the modem isn't responding. However, I can't even get to this point on my Axim.

I think the problem is with the phone itself and how bluetooth is implemented. If you find a Sony Ericson you won't have that problem . I had a SE 616, and V600, and now a V551. T616 had the best bluetooth implementation. V600 has only two profiles. Dialup internet and file transfer. I had a really hard time finding a program that will read and send SMS from my Axim via bluetooth.

So to keep it short.... you might be out of luck.

Did your motorola V551 dial via Bluetooth on your Axim?

I'm thinking of getting that phone, and it would be great to know if it actually worked or not.

I've got a Sony Ericsson T637 on the way now but I don't know that I like that phone too much.

Please let me know if the V551 worked. Also, what program did you use to dial? I had hoped to be able to use Pocket Informant.

Thanks!

Surprise surprise.... I just did some testing with pocket informat and my v551. I was able to dial without problem. Had to configure PI to dial via BT, but it worked fine. Cool.

In the Contacts view there is setting where you specify what to use for dialing. Either DTMF tones, IR, or BT. So I chose BT out of the options and it worked like a charm.

I'll try it when I get my phone but I just wanted to clarify. I actually see two settings for Bluetooth dialing. One says Bluetooth Dialer (Ipaq), the other says BT UART on COM5.

Do you know which of these you have it set to?

Thanks

I am starting to think this is a Mtorola issue. The same is happening to me. I have a Razr V3 and as far as BT goes it does not work. The phone pairs with the X50 and (even my Palm) but does not do the job. The error message is always the same: "NO modem available".
To my amazement, the T39 Ericsson works like a charm.

Of course it's Motorola issue. Every phone company has their own "special" way of implementing bluetooth. My first BT phone was a Nokia 6310. I had to send it twice for updates to BT, because it just would not work with anything. Personally from my experience the best BT implementation on a phone was my old SE t616. It plainly just worked.
I think that's one of the reason BT has not "flowered" yet. Everyone has their own way of doing things.

I have the X50v and a V600, have it connected via bluetooth, works fine for that as stated above. My question is why would someone want to dial out from their phone using the X50v with the exception of creating an internet connection to browse certain sites or get emails. Does anyone really want to talk on the X50v short of something like Skype and a bluetooth headset?

I have the x50v and a v600 and can dial just fine too. Not to mention transfer files back and forth.
