x50 Screen alignment problems

I just started using an x50 that i got through work and the screen aligment worked fine for about a week and now it seems to just be horrible.

It needs to be re-aligned alot and when i do it, it takes between 6 and 12 attempts before it is satisfied with the alignment and lets me continue.

If i try to draw a straight horizontal line in the note tool - i usually get alot of vertical (usually downward) spikes in my line.

This can't be normal?? Anyone have any tips on aligning this thing so that it is more usable?

Thanks!
Brian

are you using a screen protector? if so try removing it and see if is any better. also, have you tried a soft reset?
edit: i haven't had to align mine since the initial one, about a month ago.

If you don't have a screen protector on, there could be something stuck under the screen bezel.

Run the corner of a business card around the edge, under the bezel, flicking it towards the center of the screen every quarter inch, or so.

Then try realigning.

Your x50v is broken. Dell had (have?) a bad batch of x50v's that have that exact problem. I exchanged mine for a new one in January and it's been perfect ever since.

Contact Dell, explain the problem, have them overnight (they will, if properly motivated) a new one to you, return the old one. Do a backup now and restore the file onto the new unit. You don't have any software issues, this is a hardware issue.

Mad Screen allignment (Digitizer) Issues

My first x50V started doing this after about 2 weeks. Dell replaced it and my new one started after just one week. It comes and goes but it does drive you insane when it occurs. I will be calling Dell for a more permanent solution.

have you checked this out?

I have had the same problem for a month now, dell shipped me a replacement and it does the same a day after I got it!! it's still doing it after a hard reset, it comes and goes though.
I am waiting for them to transfer the warranty to the one I am using before I get another replacement again. It has been a week and it I am still waiting...
good luck man

I didn't have this problem with my first X50, but the replacement for that one, which developed a headphone jack issue, now has to be realigned several times a day. GRR! Anyone had luck with Dell on this? Best way to communicate?

Are any of you with this problem using a screen protector? Try removing it and do the screen alignment and see if it holds for a while. This has been a problem in the past but I have read a lot of this problem here lately so it may be bigger than the protector. It almost sounds like Dell is passing the same bad pda's back and forth.

Had the problem with a screen protector on there and not on there. I'm waiting for my fifth x50v to show up in a folorn hope that the next used (refurbished) unit finally does not have the screen alignment problem.

Personally, I think we're pretty close to a class action suit to force Dell to fix the problem. :realmad:
