Built-in Storage problem - Can't delete some files.
Ok, what do I do with folders/files that I can't delete on the BIS even after a hard reset?
I've spent all night on this and I'm out of ideas now... tried everything, the file will not go away.
The folder is JBCACHE, from the Journal Bar program. it contains 5 sub folder with 1 file in each sub folders. I can rename the folder and sub folders, but not the file, and I can't delete them, from the PPC or from the PC thru active sync.
I'm getting really angy now... any ideas? Is there a way to reset the BIS, format it maybe ?
if you have done a hard reset and still cant get them deleted i would think your BIS might be defective, BIS have given lots of other people troubles before. Have you tried writing a different file to it and see if you can delete that?

Anyonep lease help...
I'd HIGHLY recommend getting 'Memmaid'. It's avery powerful system and memory management tool that allows you to analyze, configure, and maintain your system resources in ways that is just impossible with the standard system software. It will show you what processes are running in the background, which you can terminate, then delete (if that's your problem). It's my favorite software, and it may help you resolve your problem.

I can write and delete other files, just that stupid folder can't be removed.... I'm really desperate now why isn't it possible to reformat that built in storage ???
As for memmaid, I was already using it but its of no help in that case... after a hard reset, I'm pretty confident that nothing is accessing those files...
I really don'T feel like calling Dell support and hitting a wall......
have you looked at the file attributes? they may be read only.
I tried changing the file attributes, currently, none of the attribute boxes are checked, but the sub folders attribute will not chnage whatever I set them too. They always comes back with all boxes "partially" checked and the ROM attribute fully checked.
I cant even COPY the "locked" files anywhere else on the PPC or on my PC through ActiveSync.
I get an error saying "Cannot copy <name of file>". Cannot find the specified file".
All this caused by stupid Journal Bar... I'm so mad right now.
I had the same problem.
I had a file that couldn't be deleted at all.
I did Soft Reset, still couldn't delete.
I did Hard Reset, still couldn't delete.
I did a restore of my ROM image. Still there and couldn't delete the damned file.
I did the ROM Upgrade.
Surprise... it's still there and wouldn't go away.
There is only one thing left to do.
And it worked for me.
Finally, the file is gone now.
How did you uninstall JournalBar? I'm thinking that if you manually deleted what you thought were all the files you missed something and your device thinks JournalBar is still running.

It's very cumbersome though.
What I did, is flashing a new ROM, but in different language.
In my case, I was using Japanese ROM, then I flash the English ROM (using SD Card trick).
Then the BIS is wiped out.
After that, go back again to original ROM (in my case, back to Japanese ROM).
