is dell going to release a rom upgrade or cd for their current line of axims?

does someone know if there is going to be ANY 3rd party battery for the x50 /x50v ? i dont want to buy the BULKY 2200 mAh battery... maybe someone is working on a battery.

did someone find the registry key or settings file that lets you change background illumination (i know about the hidden contrast application!) ? ive already set the backlight setting to the lowest possible setting (i think its still too bright...)

Heads up! All this has been discussed on the boards before -- and The Great Magneto Question was addressed the other day with the specific request that we not keep asking about it, because at this point *no one* really knows anything with regard to Magneto and the Axim.

You will find discussion about the Mugen battery on here, but the upshot is that the regular-sized on is only going to be 1100MAh.

I haven't spotted anything about lowering the lowest light setting on here myself. Worth a search, though.

Anything bigger than 1100mah will be bulky. You wont see a 2200mah smaller than the dell one because of the cell number it needs to give that much power. If a 1800mah comes out, I don't think you'll see much of a difference from the 1100mah and it will still be a bit bigger than the 1100.
Honestly, you should get the 2200. After 1hr I started to like the feel it gives to the Axim better than the standard battery... it adds some grips to it too :) It also last a looooooooooong time.
Check www.suntekstore.com, they will have some 3rd party batteries soon for the x50, not sure the capacity though.

There is no brightness key in the registry... maybe a 3rd party tool could set brightness for you, but I don't think there is one yet.

i am sure that as technology advances there will be a better battery thats still the size of the 1100 mAh model!
we will have to wait.....

i HOPE that dell will improve the brightness settings util that comes standard with the next rom revision (i even made dell support formward my request[s] to the technology department).

if the mugen one will cost like 50% of the dell model, ill probably go for it.

Frddmethot, can you attach a picture of your x50v with the 2000 mAh battery to this post? i havent seen a picture that properly displays the proportions.

The 2200 battery is exactly twice the size of the 1100.
