3D accelerator

QUESTION.

In my system property, WHERE can I see the Intel 2700 chip LISTED??
I'm starting to think there is a problem with it, or maybe I'm just expecting too much.

Also.
Old games (that are not designed for X50, but for OLD PPCs) run really slow (solitaire and jawbraker are fine)... is that pretty standard????

Is there anywhere on system property or so that will show me the PRESENCE of the 3D accelerator?
Are there any good games out there that will proof to me whether my 3D chip is doing its job? Even just DEMOs (my x50 didn't come with game package)

I am lookint for people's experience on games designed for previous versions of PPC.
Do they run slowly, or is my machine faulty?

Also, where can I see the 3D chip listed in the hardware properties?

I am NOT running GAPI. I've already tried to install GAPI, but makes little or no difference on the games I've been trying.
(can't remember the games' name at the moment.)

In that case we need to know exactly which games you've tried.

Most if not all of my previous games run smooth now that I have the enhanced GAPI.

Did you install the item from the link in the previous post? If so, did you go to Start - Settings - System (tab) - GAPI (icon) and check the 'Enhanced GAPI' and click apply?

Also, all of the games from previous PPCs won't use the 3d accelerator chip, so the answer to your original question is no, it is not a faulty chip. If you do have a faulty chip you wouldn't be able to prove it from the old games.

Try going here and downloading one of those demos to your PPC and run it. The particles one would be a good test. Is it slow?

I don't remember if it comes enabled by default. This may sound stupid but did you enable the driver and then soft reset the device? I have been using GAPI and all of my games smoke. I even get sweet framertes on 80% of the games I have for Morphgear without overclocking. ;)

It is not enabled by default. Also, you don't need to soft reset.

Right. So far I have tried two new games:

-Bejeweled 2
-VGA meteor

They actually run great, but I guess that wouldn't give any indication of 3D acceleration (right?)

I will try the 3D DEMOs tonight, and then post again!

Ok I said I'd let you know... a bit late, but here it is...

I went to the site you indicated... downloaded two of those 3D demos...
...and..

WOW!!!!!!!!! IT'S AMAZING!!!!!!! Never thought my PPC could do that!!!
It's truly incredible!!!

I guess that means my 3D accelerator is fine!!!!:approve:
