I've been bothered by digitizer issues with my X50v for quite some time. My vain attempts to fix it resulted in a cracked front bezel and a torn LCD ribbon cable, and I replaced the LCD less than a week ago!
While the digitizer worked just fine again for a while, the dreaded decalibration came back. I followed the instructions by putting spacer material between the front bezel and the top and bottom edges of the screen, but that never worked.
However, a thought just hit my head-what about the lower-left edge of the digitizer, where the flat ribbon cable sticks out? I put some spacer material between the front bezel and that part of the digitizer, and my problems have largely disappeared! (Now, if I'd have just thought about that about a year ago, before the bezel got cracked, the LCD ribbon cable got torn, and I decided to give the hx4700 a shot at the expense of 273 US$ and my sanity at this new device also having digitizer issues along the mid-right edge of the screen...)
So, if putting spacer material between the front bezel and the top and bottom edges of the digitizer doesn't work, try putting it only on the lower-left edge where the cable sticks out. You might just be pleasantly surprised!
EDIT: It turns out that either I have my spacer material incorrectly positioned, or that was a false hope that hasn't led to any solutions for this dreaded digitizer problem. I just hope that the typical X51v doesn't suffer from this, as I'll sell both of my current handhelds to get one if its digitizer works perfectly.
