Exclamation Power Button Paint

A word of warning...

The paint on the power button of my x50v is starting to flake off. I believe that this is due to the use of my stylus as an easy way to press the power button. So I would like to warn anyone against this practice. Then again maybe it is just a fluke...

Because it is such a simple cosmetic thing do you think Dell will fix it?

let me know what you find out because my has don't the same thing.

I always used my finger or nail so maybe it is just crappy paint or a climate thing (I live where it is very hot and humid)

Cheers
Adrian

They would definately replace it if you have complete care. I'd say most likely even if you don't.

I know...

...that's why I use THIS.
The direct link for the VGA version is THIS...

It's free, it's VGA, it looks and works great and it lets you:

-TURN THE SCREEN OFF
-LOG OUT
-SHUT DOWN
-SOFT RESET
-HARD RESET

And it's skinnable. (the default resembles XP):approve:

Shut Down? Log Off? What do these mean on a PPC?

Looking at the website don't see where it claims to be able to log off don't know what you would be logging out of anyways? But on the shutdown front its nothing more then what you get by pressing the power button. Software looks nice though not that I would use it but looks like it can do timed shutdowns.

Sorry, forgot to explain what log off is:

-if you use a password and you press on the "keys" it will go back to the password screen, that's all. Nothing to do with the log off of desktop pcs!

Personally I don't think I will ask for a replacement. My device works really well and I don't want to run the risk of getting a defective unit and going through the hassel. I wonder if they would give me soem paint :) hehe

Cheers
Adrian

Even if you use the Program to shut the unit down you still have to press the power button to turn it on. Or you just map it to another button which other programs can do as well.

Another app that does something similar (with a bit extra) is Nicestart: http://www.trancreative.com/nicestart.aspx

That's what I use...
