I got my X50 Mid in December, the cradle worked great at home on Self-built computer, however when I took it to work and hooked it u to my (Dell) work computer it fried the power supply. I thought it had to be the computer, so I hooked it up to another Dell PC and the same thing happened. I called Dell and hey sent me a new cradle no problems since.

I just got mine, with Rev A01. When I first plugged in my axim while the cradle was connected, I felt a shock on my fingers... and the computer locked up... was able to restart the system after.

If that happens again, request a new package. I would even consider doing it right now. Was the cradle connected to a hub or do the motherboard?

Direct to the motherboard. Wasn't able to restart the computer at first, but after unplugging the AC cord to the power supply and reconnecting after a minute or so, everything was fine. My guess was some power got fed back into the motherboard and unplugging the AC power discharged it?

We received our Axim on Monday late afternoon., let it charge up until Tuesday Morning Had a heck of a time getting connected to wireless internet, tried all day. Next morning called dell, after two hours on the phone with dell, no results, called router company, in less than five minutes had me connected. Wednesday night had Axim in cradel. took it out and heard a nasty POP, and laptop blacked out. I brought it back up, but it would not acknowledge my external mouse, or the cradle. I called Dell, a woman answered, whom I could barely understand, told her what the problem was.She had me take the battter out of the laptop, plug it in and turn it in, still no detection, she said she would put me on hold why she researched the problem. Held on for a least 1/2 hour (no kidding) then was disconnected. I called back, got a gentleman this time, but was even harder to undersdand. After two hours, he decided I needed to send in laptop, usb was fried!! Thats what I told him when I called??? This morning, dell called could understand this guy a little better. He said this was the first time he had heard about this problem, I asked him if Dell mointered these sites, After a few moments, I think he realized I knew what I was talking about, he said they would send my a new cradel, and keep me updated on a new solutionto this problem( YA RIGHT) But I am Scared to death to try it all again. The Axim is working well, and I think my husband is going to love it, but Dell really needs to deal with this problem.

So do those surge supressing usb hubs help?
The cradle the axim then plug into usb doesnt have any issues right?
Is there a specific cradle revision to avoid?

I have a sony vgn-s260 laptop getting a new mobo thanks to Best Buy warranty. I was using an aftermarket USB Sync cable. I didn't think anything of it because I've been through 6 laptops in the past year. It could be the Axim itself. I never use the cradle except to charge and use at the same time. February is when I got my Axim and when problems started...

I've had mine from day one of release. I've had a couple pops in the past on the desktop speaker, but no problems. I've always used a PCI / USB card. First card when south last month, but no pop. Today, the x50 would not sync. Moved to another usb port on the new PCI card and now it syncs. The only bad port is the one the pda was plug into over the last few weeks. Nothing else has ever been into the card/ports and the only one bad is the one teh pda is pluged into. I've moved the cradle to another usb port on the card and now it works/syncs. No other usb products work in the "now bad" usb port the cradle killed.

I am using a belkin hub-save my second board with the overcurrent protectiion.
It happened 1st time I plugged in my replacement cradle from Dell, got msg about "overcurrent on port".
I haven't plugged the cradle in without it since!

Now I am scared to plug mine in after I get it. I know that there are more people without the problem, but I don't want to have the prob too.

1.1 or 2.0

Can someone tell me whether this problem tends to occurs with USB 1.1 or 2.0 ports? Or both? Sounds like PCI cards tend to safeguard most folks, but it seems to me the USB version would have something to do with it too.
