I have noticed from reading a previous thread that some people have squishy screens, including my own x50v, that is, when you use the stylus, the screen is kinda soft around the centre than the corners or the edges.
After comparing with several other PDAs, including Toshiba e800, Axim x3i, an ipaq, I realized their screens weren't as squishy. In fact, their screens are pretty firm. This squishiness makes the centre less sensitive than the corners or the edges so that it requires slightly more pressure to get a response.
I am just wondering if this is might be a defect or is it a common occurance. This poll is more out of curiosity than a complaint, since the squishiness doesn't hinder the functioning of the unit.
Yes I have a squishy screen too but its the corners thats soft while the middle feels like glass. I don't find any sensitivity loss though, so it doesn't really bother me.
Mine's a bit "squishy" and it's a little annoying.. but I'm getting used to it.. getting used to a lot of things with this one.. but, overall.. I'd be lost without it.. and I mean that literally.. it's my modern-day note pinned to my pocket. If found please return to :rolling:
Yes, there was a thread on "Baggy screens" mine is puffy in the middle and it annoys the hell out of me as I have to poke harder on that part of the screen for a response.
Is there possibly a fix for that? Perhaps mushing the middle until the gel layer spreads out evenly?
hmmm...i'm surprised more people don't have squishy screens. I had call dell and got a replacement but the replacement was also squishy, but it seems just slightly less. I was going to keep the replacement until I compare the screens. It appears that my 1st x50v had a slightly brighther screen and the white was more white, whereas the replacement's whites are slightly tinted yellow. I guess this really shows that there isn't as much uniformity between dell products as I originally thought.
In the end, I think I still will keep my original because the screen colour seems better. I suppose I can live with the squishy screen.
Another note, I noticed that with my boxwave screen protector on, the screen seems a little less sensitive at the squishy parts.
Yes, I do, but doesn't really bother me... plus this is my first PDA... so until I read that post you were refering to a while ago, I thought it was normal!

I think it IS normal! (for axims...)
I've been in contact with 4 x50v's recently, mine, a replacement for mine, and two belonging to chums.
They ALL have the "baggy screen syndrome"!
