Bis Dead...help!?
I came home today, and my axim was dead, the battery had run dry. So i put it on the cradle, had to setup from scratch due to the reset. Anyways, decided to not restore a backup since i hadnt herd reset in a while. I went to install a few progs to BIS, is working, then the axim just stops. I soft reset, and BIS IS GONE. I hard reset, twice, still no built in storage. It is simply not there.
Has anybody else seen this or knows what is up?!?! right now i have it sitting out without a battery in the hopes that a loss of power reset may somehow shove it back into working order....
but any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated.

alright...flashed to AO1, then back to A02...no go. Restored an old backup. Nothing. Did the hard reset but cancel ive seen recommended for a similar problem on the x30. No dice. Its time for dell to think about givin me another....
the thing that gets me is i KNOW the bis isnt dead, as its rom and the OS works....it just isnt being read for some reason, its like a stupid software error nothing is fixin....i dont get it.

:scratch_h I don't get it either, but my BIS disappeared after trying to install a program, too. It never returned despite hard resets. I called DELL and had it replaced. At the time the tech said he had not heard of this problem. Since then I found several threads with the same problems on x30s and x50s. My advice is to send it back and get a replacement.

so yeah...i called dell, replacement is on the way. So weird, im gonna pay attention to this on the next model, dont screw with it and install too much stuff there etc. Too bad its a refurb too, im a little worried the screen will show up with bad pixels :). If that happens i think there will be some transplant surgery, and dell wont have to know about it.

Don't the axims have thoses screws that show evidence of tampering? If you open it up I think They WILL know

well yeah....but i find it hard to believe that after sending me a new one, when they get the broken one back with a voided screw thingy undone, they will throw a huge fit and demand the fix back etc....im pretty sure they will just throw it into the refurb pile and fix it regardless...

Hehehe nice one :)
Do they have tamper proof screws? I couldn't see anything tamper proof on mine, just some threadlock, maybe x50 is different.
heh anyway, they send you a new one before you give the old one back, and I doubt it would be worth their while following up why it had been opened

This sounds dumb, but is there anyway of making a new folder, with the same name (Built in Storage) or whatever the exact wording is?
Maybe either on the Axim itself (with File Explorer or Resco File Explorer), or through the "Explore" function from Windows?
Maybe the actual memory is still there, but the link to it isn't coming back for one reason or another.
Seems like a silly idea, and may not even work (mine's fine, so not gonna mess with it), but figured I'd toss out the idea.

My new one came in today :realmad: , everything was great until I tried to use the SD card...IT WONT READ IT!!!
I called dell again and they say they will replace it as soon as I sent the first one back.
I cannot believe they send bad units out!

My Built In Storage disappeared also. Could not figure out what had caused it - May have happened after trying to load a program. Called DELL, explained to the support people what happened - they had never heard of this - had a new (or refurb) unit the next day, complete with the A02 upgrade.
