X50v freaks out on cradle

Whenever I put my X50v on the cradle, whether the USB is connected to a computer or not, it starts a never ending cycle of starting up the Connect to Host sequence. If the cradle is connected to the computer, it starts to connect and sync, but then gets interrupted the next time the Axim starts the connection sequence up again.

If I try to sync over the wireless network, it starts to work but then gets stuck after about 2 minutes.

I'm about 99% sure I haven't installed any software, or really even used my Axim since my last sync.

Any ideas?

Have you tried a soft reset?

if that doesn't work ....
Mine did something similar a few months ago so i did a hard reset followed by a restore from my last backup. (a hard reset will remove all data in main memory so make sure you have a full backup of any important data before you try it)

I tried everything, soft resets included.

I ended up just doing a hard reset. This fixed the problem. This isn't a very good solution, but it seems like the only one that works.

Hard reset is the main reason why a good reliable backup is needed. Usually hard reset is not a weekly thing but is needed once in a while. I haven hard reset mine since about a month now. If you have to hard reset constantly either a software is not working right or the hardware is defective. In the later case I would call Dell while it is still under warranty.
