How to configure

Using x50v, doing Start, Settings, Connections, Dell Wlan Utility, Advanced. I have the screen as show on wifi.aximsite.com/axim-03se.html image WM03SE-7. How do I change those settings?

It is showing WPA authentication but it should be Open, Power Mode is Disabled and all of the Network Info is zero or blank.

On the Config tab the Pref SSID is blank, BBS Type is 802.11 Ad-Hoc and No signal but on Site Tab it sees my SSID.

I've been tinkering with this so long now I don't think I could see the answer if it bit me.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Mike

Try turning off the wireless, resetting the Axim, and then re-enabling wireless. If that doesn't help, try resetting the router and see if it will connect with the default settings. If that works, go back into the router settings and personalize the SSID and enable the security features you want to use one at a time.

Yup, try setting your router to use WEP security instead. You can generate keys (4 keys are generated, you pick which one you want) with this setting. When you connect your X50v to the wireless network, it will prompt you to enter the key selected. Works for me.

By the way, which router are you using?

Problem solved. I finally got through to Dell tech support and the rep "Q" was very a helpful and knowledgable young lady. Went through several things that you folks suggested to no avail. Finally she resorted to a hard reset. After going through the initialization process of a hard reset she wanted the wireless turned off.

1. Set the My Network Card to the Internet,
2. Select the Dell Axim x50 adapter
3. Select "Use server assigned IP address."
4. OK everything out to Settings Connection tab

Turn wireless back on and repeat steps 1 - 4

I connected almost immediately. It was nice to see after fighting it for so long.

I didn't have to change anything on the Netgear WGT634 router but will now try to re-enable WEP security.

Since it was a new machine I didn't lose any data that I couldn't replace after the hard reset but beware. I know that I made this harder than it really has to be and suspect others are doing the same. It's hard not knowing for sure if it's a PDA or router problem but my network, consisting of a desktop and wireless laptop, worked OK.

I hope this helps some one else.

Thanks

Mike
