Question x50v battery woes

Hi - I've been lurking for a while, this is my first post. I've had an x5 for a ages, but got an x50v a week ago. I didn't really use the x5 much (no bt/wifi) but I'm using the new one loads. I bought a (non dell) second battery (1000mah) and I'm having agro with it. Whenever it gets down to c.70% my axim just powers down with no warning. I then need to put my dell battery in and when it powers up I get what I guess is the pda equiv. of a "you didn't shut down properly" message.
So, is the battery junk - or is there a way to safe it?

This site rocks - I'm amazed at the info available. Also anyone in the UK know of good suppliers -- I'm looking for a new battery ( ) and a case (proably leather/extended battery). Got a BT keyboard and CF card coming...

Little Bio (in case anyone's interested ...) I live in the UK near Oxford and work in the Anti Virus industry, which is very interesting right now. I used to be a developer, but these days I stick to project management....my 4 year old daughter loves watch Shrek on the old X5 - its amazing how kids take to technology without batting an eyelid.

Best
Paul.

Could be time for a hard reset.I would put the after market battery in after the reset and charge in the cradle overnite.Be sure to turn the unit on for a few minutes after putting it in the cradle. If that doesn't work maybe you can return the battery for another one.As for as a case you can check out www.aximcases.com for batteries and cases. Not sure if they ship over the pond but an email will clear that up.Also welcome to Aximsite.

When you got the 1100 batt, did you charge it for @ least 8 hrs. before using it?

Search around the site for some info on refreshing the battery. I remember reading that there was a way to refresh the memory for problems like yours. I believe it was to drain it down the put it in the cradle to charge making sure to leave it on.

Well, they don't exactly tell you that when you get replacement battery, but it is stated in the Axim Manual. When I received my 1800 battery, I charged it for 12 hours. It's worked great thus far. I still don't think it should shut off like that, it just wouldn't last as long.

I recommend returning the battery for a replacememnt, then charge it overnight in the spare battery slot before using it.

who is your battery made by? If it was a cheap (ebay?) one i'd be very dubious about it
