I can hope that the gurus at Dell see this and jump on it...so here goes...
Where I work, we bought four x50s for testing and general use here. Our company has developed a technology that embeds audio tones into the audio stream of broadcasts, be it radio, TV, cable, whatever has an audio stream within it. Our technology is very tight with its requirements for tone frequency accuracy.
We tested our signals on my original Axim X30 and the frequencies were very tight. An example would be a 1000 Hz tone plays back at 1000.4. In fact, our original mp3 file's tone might be have been 1000.2. Either way, the X30's tone accuracy was TIGHT. Great!
This week, I bought and received my X50v. My workplace also bought 4 X50's. We tested all of them...ouch! The same 1000 Hz tone plays back as 1005.5 Hz. The 2000 Hz tone plays at 2011 Hz, and the 3000 Hz tone is at 3016+...not good! Our signal is shifted enough that this is a serious gotcha.
Can others out there try this and confirm that Dell's new design is slightly off? It may not seem like much, but I know there are people out there that can hear that small difference. And I know our detecting equipment definitely knows its a problem
Dell...are you listening? If so, if this problem is not remedied, a lot of X50(v)s will need to be returned. Sorry, but true.
Thank you for the (anticipated) help!!!!
