Battery Splitting Open??

My x50v battery has a tear in the black encasing, revealing the silver battery beneath. Is this just a minor aesthetic imperfection, or is this bad boy going to start leaking juice all over my precious device?

that sounds like the battery overheated and cracked the case while it expanded.... next step, rupture metal casing, leak liquids ignite.

I say avoid like the plague.

oooo Pics?

First, let me say I appreciate the quick replies. Next, to answer the questions, It is a genuine Dell battery, and I have no idea how it happened. Unfortunately, I have no way to take a picture of it, but if the battery were a book, then the tear would be right along the edge of the spine where the spine meets the front cover. Think the Dell warranty covers this?
