battery discharge

I turned off my Axim (purchased new about 3 weeks ago) before going to bed last night, the battery was around 95% at the time. When I woke up this morning and tried to turn it back on, the battery was completely discharged!!! What happenned?

Your Axim will turn on at midnight to setup the calendar reminders etc. for the following day. Some applications will prevent the Axim from turning off. Can you remember if you had any applications running (they could be minimized) when you turned the Axim off before going to bed?

That sounds interesting. I did not exit MS Reader when I turned off the device, and I did go to bed earlier last night (before midnight).

I noticed before, that the device still powered down alright after 3 minutes of not being used, even with MS Reader in use. But I'll try to check out that scenario tonight.

Also, make sure you turn off wifi or bt if you are using either. they will cause it to not turn off with the midnight check too.

Reader won't prevent it from turning off. That one is safe :)

Were you listening to any music?

Nope. No music. BT is always disabled. I disabled both of those side buttons (record and wifi) cause they are annoying.

I closed all program using the Switcher Bar, then used File Explorer to get to the MS Reader file ... so those 3 are the only apps that should have been running.

Really appreciate your help. I'll keep a close watch on this unit to see what's up.

I am having the same problem, and found this post by searching the forums. Dell actually replaced my first X50v under warranty because I was complaining of this, but now my new one is doing the same thing. I fully charged it last night, checked before bed (it was at 95%), went to settings->memory and stopped all of the programs... woke up this morning and, when I turned it on, it was giving me the battery warning, I was at 16%! It was off, because I had to turn it on in the morning to see that warning, and there were no programs running in the background.

why not just put it on the cradle and let it charge every night? anyway, it could be that one of the programs you have loaded is looking for something or somehow interacting with the wakeup but won't show as a 'running' program. maybe someting on the today screen? I don't think this mystery has been fully figured out because of the large number of different programs that people run and the possible quirks they cause. You could always try a hard reset and before loading anything, see what it does overnight. then load one program at a time until it causes a problem. I think leaving it on the charger is easier though.
