Hmm X50V Suddenly Can't Identify SD Card

I opened my Axim this a.m. only to find that my SD card was not being identified in Memory. My CF card was identified, but not the SD. I did soft reset and then pulled the SD card and reinserted, soft reset again, but no luck. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

I have seen a few similar posts about this type of thing. Put it in a card reader (if you have one) copy the stuff off it if you can, format it (check the tutorial sections for how to do this and choose correct formatting), copy your stuff back on to it and re-insert it. Should be OK then.

Cheers

Have you got a camera or something you could put it in?

I think you would need to put the SD-Card into the camera - connect the camera to you PC via the USB cable and copy the data off the card if you can.

Then you normally have an option on the camera to format the card - do it. Maybe try to use explorer to format the card if you can but it might not let you because it is a device not a drive... I've never tryed it.

Then try it in your axim.

If the Camera can't read the card then you might have a dead SD-card but that is unlikely - it is probably that it is just corrupted and needs formatting.

You should think about getting a card reader too - I think they are about $15 in the USA and they are heaps faster to write to than using Activesync and you X50v. Also activesync has issues with large files (>200mb) which is a problem when you want to copy movies and stuff to your X50v.
