Strange Memory Behavior.

I have had my x50v for about one year. Total of 61.75 MB according to Settings/About/Version.

I have noticed the following behavior which is curious to me if not actually troubling.

- If I look at memory usage right now (after a soft reset) I see the following for program memory:

Allocated: 37.18
In use: 10.88
Free: 26.30
- I put the device in the cradle. Now I see
In use: 13.05
Free: 24.13
- OK now I disconnect from the cradle.
In use: 12:17
Free: 25.01
Active sync is still running. But if I stop Active Sync I see:
In use: 11.59
Free: 25.59
So now I do some stuff. Open messages, open calendar, and play one song in TCPMP, and then look at some pictures of my daughter. Then I stop all programs. I see:
In use: 12.35
In fact I notice that at the end of the day the amount in use can be about 15 or 16. Even if I exit all programs this amount remains unless I soft reset the unit. Then it goes down to 10 agin.

Why is this? Why is there memory taken up when there are no programs running at all?

Watti.

I noticed this as well - I presume it is to do with tempory files not being deleted.

Also, as a software developer I know that there are always memory leaks in any code that we write. Inadvertently, memory is allocated by the program and sometimes the developer forgets to free it. Sometimes the developer frees it, but for efficiency sake, OS might decide to put it back into the free pool after some time. So long story short, do a soft reset frequently. This will keep on giving you back all your free RAMs.
