Total wifi meltdown

I'm annoyed.

I do use wifi much but first time away from home on a business trip and tried to access wifi through a free hotspot.

The connected to the network normally but PIE gives errors. I tried to sync IMAP no luck. Both have worked in the past. Also if i look at the settings option under WLAN utility, it freezes the whole unit and i hav to do a soft reset.

After two days screwing around with this at several hotspots,I fianlly discovered that PIE will work over wifi after i do a hard reset and reconfigure the device(of course loosing all apps and PIM data) but will not work after I restore.

The only apps i have are:

spb weather
uptime
ubook
memmaid
beta player
pocket stars

So i am working under the suspicion that one of these is causing the problem since it works when they are gone after the hard reset.

Any ideas, thoughts, similar observations?

Watti.

If I had to guess I would blame SPB Weather, since it is the only software on that list that really interacts with the wifi... (not sure what pocket stars or uptime is.)

You could try installing each of these and testing out the wifi after each install to see what is messing it up.

I tend to have some issues connecting to busy wifi routers. I experience this a lot at work (CompUSA), where we have about 40 laptops and 7 PDA's all trying to use an overloaded wifi network. The laptops usually don't have much trouble connecting, but the 5 iPaqs and 2 Palms can have some issues, as well as my x5 and x50v. At home, school, and a few other places, I connect quite easily. So it could be a busy router, and PDAs seem to have more trouble with that than full PC's.

Try removing one of them at a time and see if it works. If you are using Sprite you can then restore everything but the offending software.

Well, I donīt have any of the programs listed above, but I get a similar error. The weird thing is that PIE gives me an error ("Page could not be found"), but I can still check my eMails and the strangest thing is that I still can use Minimo to connect to the Internet and browse around. I tried to shift the connection settings (the settings with the work/ISP options) but that didnīt help. Even vxUtil works perfectly... I donīt know what to do anymore. *help*

read here somewhere that you should run the "welcome" program on your pda and it will clear that page error. do a search for more info.

UPDATE meltdown

So i backed up my pim data, and restored it only after a hard reset. Everything wifi works flawlessly. Obviously, its the software because if i restore them I am right back with the same problems.

I am using e-mail, surfing ect. which is the point of being away from home and office. I just do not have the other stuff and my x50v is essentially virgin.

I will try and reinstall some of this when I return and hope that after the resets i can still sync with the home computer when i get back.

Yet another update: Wifi Meltdown

OK so after the hard rezet, my PC will not recognise the old profile and I need to create a new one and re-sync. I will have to wait because my puter is going through upgrades at work.

Give the Ax the same name, then with the ax NOT connected, open activesync on the PC and delete the old partnership. Now reconnect the Ax and it will open a new partnership with the same name.
