I'm a current user of a Toshiba E-310 and looking to upgrade to an AXIM X50. from a post that I read on the Dell forum I understood that if I currently run in my house a Linksys 11g network it will not work with the X50 since the X50 is an 11b Wi-Fi,
1. Is that true?
2. Can something be done short of having the linksys transmit in 11b format and defeat the purpose it was bought for?
I had wireless b and upgraded, for the "geek" of it, to wireless g. Not a single problem although one laptop is a wireless b card, the second laptop I upgraded to a g card.
My Axim X50 is wireless b and reads/writes to the wireless g, Linksys wireless system. Keep in mind wireless g is backwards compatible meaning, wireless b "or" g. Doesn't matter.
It also doesn't matter if you mix 'n match manufacturers; i.e.: Linksys wireless router or Belkin wireless card. Anyway you like it.
My Linksys g router works just fine with the Axim. Good Luck~

Question: I have a 50v that I'm trying to connect to a Linksys B router. I've connected quite well before with every other wireless network but can't connect to this on at my brother-in-law's house.
Any settings that I need to update? It's using channel 2 instead of the usual 6, but it's being detected by my 50v - just can't connet.

nope - I'll try that. any particular reason why that works for future reference?
I don't know the technical reason, but I've found that disabling powersave makes a difference depending on the type of chip a router uses. For example, I used to use a Netgear B router on powersave with no problems. When I switched to a Belkin G router, I had to disable powersave or else I would get disconnected every once in awhile.
I have an Axim X50v, and it works great with my Linksys WRT54G, Mixed mode.
I use WPA, Shared-Key, Prermission Only MAC Filter.
Mine is set up perty strict, and my cousins can't get in. Cause they work for Intel, and they only allowed to use WEP! (Ewww)
WPA has better security. :approve:

when in power save mode i think the pda will not transmitt continuosly and uses a lower power signal than it does when not in powersave mode when you are not in powersave I think it transmitts and recieves at a higher frequency if someone really knows why i am all ears
