Broken screen: PocketPCTechs or PDASmart?
Anyone have a preference as to who is better to use for replacing a screen/digitizer? I cracked the glass on mine. This is the second Pocket PC that I've done this to (the first one I just threw away, it was an old X5).
On Pdasmart.com, it lists $85 to replace digitizer, $105 for them to repair it. Does the $105 include the digitizer, or is the $105 just the repair labor and you'd still have to pay $85 for the part? PocketPCTech has a similar type of deal.
How much would one be willing to buy from me this broken X50 520MHz unit, assuming I didn't want to pay to get the screen/digitizer replaced?

PPCTechs seems to be a popular one around here that many have been happy with.
For the price of yours you will need to determine the value of your used unit minus the cost and hassle of the person getting it repaired themselves. Check ebay and the classifieds here to find a fair price.

I just got my Axim X50v back from PDASmart and I have to say they are a very top notch company. Very good at responding with emails and they had my pda shipped in 2 days back to me in Canada. Was very impressed and would recommend them to anyone. I had my pda in my hands from Texas to Eastern Canada in less then 36 hrs via UPS which is friggin unbelievable.
The $105 is the total cost of the repairs including the digitizer. Only extra expense is the shipping back to you.

$85 for part +$20 labor=$105 + shipping back to you (I contacted them, my x51v has a cracked digitizer)
PDAparts.com has an x50 digitizer for $45.99+shipping but repair service for x50/x51 is not available. Try calling PDAsmart and see if they'll do the repair for $20 if you send the part and your unit to them, PDAsmart's the # is: (512)528-0333 I hope this helps!

Boy I'm glad you guys have had good luck with PDASmart because I sure haven't. I shipped my v50x to them next day air for repair because it would turn itself off right after power up. I called them and they said it would be a 3-5 day turn around. After a week I called and left a message asking were it was. The next day after no return call I kept trying till some final answered. I was told it need a new screen and would ship in two days. It did ship when promised but had the exact same problem when I received it. After serveral days of leaving messages, with no return calls, I finally spoke to someone. I again shipped it back next day air. That was three and a half weeks ago. When I call a week ago this past wednesday, again, after leaving messages with no return call, I was told that it would ship thursday or friday. Here I sit, out $129.00 plus shipping so far, with no PDA , no return phone calls and it will be a month this week since this all started.

I have an X50 (not VGA) with the top third of the screen white, except for a few thin horizontal lines through which the Theme shows.
I did a HR to check whether this is a software problem, but it persists.
The screen glass in undamaged, and I can't see anything wrong underneath.
Which component could be broken?
Thank you.

Bad LCD panel is likely. If it's still under warranty - get it replaced ASAP.
